"From January to May, local public security organs cracked more than 5,100 food safety crimes and arrested more than 8,900 criminal suspects." Lu Wuqin, director of the Food and Drug Crime Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, said at the main event of the 2021 National Food Safety Publicity Week held on the 8th that since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Public Security has organized the "Kunlun 2021" special action focusing on the food field, paying close attention to food safety problems that the society and the masses have strong reactions to, and cracking down on outstanding food safety crimes such as excessive residues of agricultural and veterinary drugs, illegal addition, adulteration, etc. The Ministry of Public Security has listed and supervised a number of major cases, which has effectively deterred lawbreakers and criminals. In the field of meat products

In the field of health food

Focusing on lipid-lowering, antihypertensive, sugar-lowering, and slimming foods, highlighting the crackdown on illegal addition crimes, the Shanghai Pudong public security organs cracked the "3.11" production and sale of toxic and harmful foods, arrested 86 criminal suspects, seized more than 60,000 grains of slimming food, 34 kilograms of raw materials such as sibutramine, and the case value was more than 60 million yuan; Chongqing Changshou Public Security Organs detected the "12.08" production and sale of toxic and harmful foods, seized more than 600,000 sugar-reducing and slimming foods, more than 70 kilograms of raw materials, and the case value was more than 50 million yuan The public security organs in Liaoyuan, Jilin Province, investigated the production and sale of toxic and harmful foods such as Liu X, and seized 32 kilograms of raw materials such as metformin and 13 tons of food involved in the case, with a case value of more than 15 million yuan.

Focusing on fruit and vegetable products, aquatic products, etc., highlighting the crackdown on crimes such as illegal addition and use of prohibited and restricted agricultural and veterinary drugs, the public security organs in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, cracked the "3.30" series of cases of making and selling toxic and harmful cattle blinds, arrested 27 criminal suspects, and seized 4 tons of cattle blinds that illegally added formaldehyde, with a case value of more than 2 million yuan; the public security organs in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, detected the production and sale of toxic and harmful food such as Sun X, arrested 5 criminal suspects, and destroyed 1 criminal den using formaldehyde to soak silver fish, with a case value of more than 20 million yuan.

In the fields of alcoholic beverages and condiments

Highlighting the crackdown on shoddy and counterfeit infringement crimes, the public security organs in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, cracked the "4.29" production and sale of fake liquor, arrested 30 criminal suspects, seized more than 10,000 bottles of counterfeit brand red wine and high-grade liquor, more than 80,000 empty bottles, and a large number of packaging materials; the public security organs in Hefei, Anhui Province, cracked the "12.30" case of manufacturing and selling counterfeit brand functional drinks, arrested 27 criminal suspects, and seized more than 18 million cans of counterfeit drinks; the public security organs in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, detected the production and sale of fake and shoddy condiments by Yao X and others. 5.6 tons of counterfeit brand condiments were seized.

In view of the current new format of selling fake and inferior food through the e-commerce live broadcast platform to endanger food safety crimes, the public security organs strengthened online inspections and dug deep into the criminal chain, and the public security organs in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, detected the "11.02" case of using the live broadcast platform to sell fake and shoddy food, arrested 12 criminal suspects, and seized a large number of fake and shoddy beef jerky, with a case value of more than 10 million yuan.

Lu Wuqin said that in the next step, the Ministry of Public Security will continue to promote the "Kunlun 2021" special action in depth, and at the same time jointly deploy special rectification actions with relevant departments to focus on rectifying the problem of edible agricultural products and maintaining "farmland to table" food safety throughout the chain.

The 2021 National Food Safety Publicity Week was officially launched in Beijing on June 8 with the theme of "Shang Jian Chongxin, Guarding the Plate Chinese Food under the Sun".
