"The flood situation in Beihuan Village is serious and needs rescue, so the villagers who can come quickly come."

In the early morning of the rainy night, an anxious voice came from the loudspeaker of Baicheng Village, Beihuan Township, Taigu District, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. In less than half an hour, 73 villagers spontaneously gathered and threw themselves into the front line of flood control.

Beihuan Village, Beihuan Township, Taigu District, Jinzhong City, is one of the places that were seriously affected by the continuous rainfall in Shanxi. Baicheng Village was one of the first rescue forces to reinforce Beihuan Village. "I received a rescue notice in the early morning of October 6, and I immediately gathered my hands on the loudspeaker." Zhang Lixin, director of the baicheng village committee, said.

Baicheng Village is a large surrounding population village, but also a well-known "warm-hearted" village, whenever there is a disaster, the villagers actively rescue.

Shi Zhenxing, 68, is an old party member and the oldest villager among rescuers. Shi Zhenxing is old and has great motivation. "When we arrived at the scene, we were assigned the task of loading sandbags and building embankments." Shi Zhenxing said.

Affected by the continuous heavy rainfall, many places in Beihu Township have been affected, and 1,000 mu of fruit trees and 2,000 mu of corn have been flooded in Baicheng Village alone. "Things have priorities, and you have to help wherever you need them." Shi Zhenxing said.

"The rising water level of the upstream reservoir, coupled with the flash flood, we can't lead the flood downstream, let alone let the flood hit the railway, so we build an embankment on the railway line overnight." Wang Xi, secretary of the Beihuan Township Party Committee, said.

On October 8, the rain stopped slightly, and all 15 cattle farms in Beihuan Village were flooded, and the roof of the farm was barely covered when the flood was highest. Dang Tuobao, director of the village committee of Beiwei Village, said that when the heavy rain came, the local government and villagers had rushed more than 1,000 cattle to a safe place, but the feed and other materials were too late to be transported, and the farmers suffered heavy losses.

Guobao Reservoir in Taigu District is a medium-sized reservoir. Du Huimin, director of the Taigu District Water Conservancy Bureau, said that the water level of the reservoir has exceeded the flood limit by more than 5 meters, and from October 3 to 7, the cumulative water inflow of the reservoir is nearly 10 million cubic meters, which is more than double the previous storage capacity.

On October 9, the rain started again.

At the other end of the village, the water from upstream washed away, and there were many landslides on the cement pavement. According to the villagers, the roadbed here has been washed away, and the water flows down the roadbed into the farmland downstream. At the flood diversion point with the largest current, an excavator is on standby, as are the rescuers of Baicheng Village. "Everyone is ready to support again." Zhang Lixin said.
