At about 14:00 on May 1, 2012, an explosion occurred at a ginseng specialty store in Taiyuan Street, Heping District, Shenyang City, injuring 8 people. At about 9 o'clock on March 4, 2013, an explosion occurred near Taiyuan Street in Heping District, Shenyang City. The site of the explosion was near the intersection of Zhonghua Road and Tongze Street. The accident was caused by the accidental operation of the construction personnel during the construction process, which caused the gas pipeline to rupture and the deflagration caused by a large amount of gas leakage encountering an open flame.
In addition, according to the information of Shenyang Daily on October 13, Shenyang Gas Group plans to renovate 200 kilometers of old gas pipeline network this year, and there are currently 44 kilometers left, and it is expected to complete the transformation by November 10.
Lv Yan, assistant general manager of Shenyang Gas Co., Ltd., said in an interview at the time that since the start of construction in May 2021, this year has completed the renovation of 156 kilometers of old gas pipeline networks in many streets such as Lingdong Street, Taiyuan Street Pedestrian Commercial Street, Yellow River Street, South Fifth Road, etc., and is now undergoing the transformation and construction of more than 10 old gas pipeline networks in the city's key streets such as Qingnian Street, Shengli Street, Nanjing Street, Shifu Road, Jianshe Road, shenliao Road, etc.
The above report also said that the old gas pipeline network to be transformed in Shenyang mainly refers to the gray cast iron pipe laid in the 1980s, and its service life has exceeded 30 years, which is the biggest safety hazard of the current gas pipeline network system.
