Everyone knows the greatness of "Cai Gen Tan", but they don't know the bitterness of Hong Yingming

Big Brother Wen (Tian Tian Xiang Shang)

The Song Dynasty Confucian Wang Xinmin once said: "People often chew the root of the vegetable, and everything can be done." ”

The great contemporary man Mao Zedong once said: "Those who are poor can achieve things, and they can chew vegetable roots and do everything." ”

As long as a person is strong enough to adapt to a life of poverty, no matter what he does, he will achieve something. This is open-mindedness and transparency after experiencing difficulties. Hong Yingming is such a person.

Speaking of Hong Yingming, everyone will only remember the greatness of his writing of "Cai Gen Tan". In fact, he also had unsatisfactory times, and even was forced by a penny to have no way out! At this time, he can still control the discipline and character, adhere to the concept, and be willing to be indifferent, which is the real great person.

Everyone knows the greatness of "Cai Gen Tan", but they don't know the bitterness of Hong Yingming

In the era of Hong Yingming's life, the Ming Dynasty society entered the late stage, during this period, the Ming government's dominance declined, corruption gradually became the norm, at the same time the citizen class developed and grew, commerce prospered, scientific and technological progress, ideas were active, speech tended to be free, and social values began to turn to open luxury and lasciviousness. This also had a great impact on Hong Yingming in his youth.

The young Hong Yingming inherited traditional Confucian ideas, and entering the world was his pursuit at that time. Although in ancient times, the kind of entrance examination seemed old-fashioned, but for ordinary families, this was also the only way they could compete with the children of the eunuchs. What aspiring young man doesn't want to be the leader of the crowd with his talent?

"Hongsheng Zicheng Clan, Young Mu Chaohua, Late Qi Zen Silence". Feng Mengzhen also talked about Hong Yingming in the "Silent Light Mirror Introduction" in "The Strange Trail of the Immortal Buddha". A few words in a short and plain way summarize Hong Yingming's extraordinary life.

Hong Yingming, a rare Yuelang star, was picking up a lamp to read at night, and this was already the third time he had prepared for the imperial examination. The first two fruitless returns did not demoralize him, but further stimulated his resolve. Obtaining a meritorious name was his childhood dream. He thought to himself, how could he let his difficulties be nowhere to be found?

Entering the DPRK as an official and making meritorious achievements does not seem to be the ultimate belonging of Hong Yingming. Hong Yingming has failed to win the examination for many times, and his confidence has been exhausted, as if he has seen his end. The imperial examination has become a victim of the party struggle at that time. Even if you have obtained a meritorious name, can you get a little chip in Game of Thrones?

Everyone knows the greatness of "Cai Gen Tan", but they don't know the bitterness of Hong Yingming

"The world is like a chess game, those who are not mastered are masters, life is like a tile pot, and only when the vacuum is broken can we see it." Hong Yingming said this in "Cai Gen Tan".

Not broken, not standing. He finally gave up the fame and fortune he had been pursuing, and Hong Yingming came to the Qinhuai River in Nanjing, where he returned to the Immortal Buddha. It was only then that he found his ultimate belonging. It's like breaking a cocoon into a butterfly, painful and beautiful.

Where Hong Yingming lives, the soil quality is very poor, the vegetables grown by farmers are not very prosperous, the harvest is very poor, and life is very bitter. Farmers take their own vegetables to the market to sell, the roots are bitter and pressured, and the people who buy them generally remove the roots, so that the farmers' income is lower. Hong Yingming's life was also very bitter at that time, and it was a pity to see that a large number of vegetable roots were thrown away, so he wanted to take the roots away, but he did not want to owe people anything, so he paid a little money to buy the vegetable roots. Over time, local people called Hong Yingming a "silly vegetable root".

Hong Yingming has a good friend named Yu Kongjian, who is an important member of the Donglin Party. On this day he came to visit Hong Yingming. Hong Yingming then entertained with his own pickled vegetable roots. After tasting it, he clapped the table and applauded. Hong Yingming's pickles marinated with vegetable roots are black and bright in color, salty and crispy, and the bitterness of no root, compared to ordinary pickles, the roots have a different taste.

Yu Kong asked the truth. Hong Yingming told Yu Kongjian that the root of the vegetable tasted bitter and was generally thrown away. He felt sorry for him, so he pickled these roots into pickles. His roots are delicious because he knows that the delicacy is urgent. He first salted the roots, fermented for a year, removed the bitterness of the roots, and forced out the aroma of the roots. Then remove the salt from the root with water and dry it in the sun for three days to make the root more chewy. Finally, the roots are served with spices such as peppercorns and marinated for seven days before they are served on the table.

Yu Kong could not help but be greatly impressed by Hong Yingming.

The dish is basically an abandonment, and the fragrance of the root of the dish can only be understood by those who have a calm heart. His "Vegetable Root Tan" was finally named after "Vegetable Root", which is also due to this special experience.

In the late period of Ming Dynasty society, some knowledgeable intellectuals, after experiencing the setbacks of their careers, retired to the rivers and lakes. They are not willing to go along with those in power, nor are they willing to cater to the secular social atmosphere against their will, so there are a large number of works that express the high and detached feelings of the hermit, and "Cai Gen Tan" is one of the representatives.

Whether in the Ming Dynasty or in contemporary times, Cai Gen Tan can be called a clear stream. In our current words, Hong Yingming should be the founder of the "Buddhist system", and the "Cai Gen Tan" is the code of conduct of the "Buddhist system". Cai Gen Tan is not an obscure book, it is as bland as our most ordinary dialogue. But it's the human heart that's complicated. This also reminds me of the story of Su Dongpo.

When Su Dongpo was an official, due to the darkness of the official field and the unfairness of the world, which led to his inner depression and anger attacking his heart, in order to dispel his troubles and cultivate his self-cultivation, Su Dongpo practiced meditation every day, cultivated concentration, and after a hundred days, he felt that his skills had greatly increased, and wrote a poem: "In the first day of the day, there is a great light in the sky." The eight winds could not move, sitting on the purple lotus. ”

Su Dongpo sent this poem to the Zen master's friend Buddha Seal monk across the river, but the Zen master replied to them: fart, angry Su Dongpo immediately ran to the opposite side of the river to find the Zen master's theory, but only to see a note posted on the door of the Zen master: "Eight winds can't blow, a fart crosses the river." Su Dongpo suddenly had an epiphany, felt ashamed and embarrassed, knew that his cultivation could not reach home, and then went back to cultivation.

Only those who truly achieve "not to be happy with things, not to be sad with themselves" can write sentences such as "do not be insulted, watch the flowers blossom and fall before the court; leave no intention, and look at the clouds in the sky" such sentences. Although the reason is understood, how many people can do it?

"To argue is not to argue, and not to argue is to argue." It is Hong Yingming's understanding of his youth, and he is also open-minded about his later years. He thinks about his life's pursuits, and spends his life in pursuits. This is the best annotation of Hong Yingming's life.
