The purpose of this event is not only to release these sea turtles, but more importantly, to further stimulate the awareness of all sectors of society to protect sea turtles and protect the marine ecological environment through this form, and to care for our common home.
According to Fu Cewan, vice mayor of Wenchang Municipal Government, with the official announcement of The Newly Adjusted List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection in February this year, all species of sea turtles have been upgraded to national first-level protected animals, demonstrating the protection and importance attached to sea turtles. In recent years, in order to strengthen the conservation and publicity of biodiversity in the South China Sea, Wenchang City has cooperated with the Hainan Forestry Bureau to hold a number of turtle protection and release activities, and the protection and release of various types of green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles has reached more than 100.
