Common diseases of kittens and how to deal with them (1)

After the kitten is completely weaned for 2 months, it loses the antibody support in breast milk, and its autoimmunity does not develop, which is the most susceptible to illness during this period. I will mainly talk to you about the common diseases of kittens and how to deal with them from the following aspects. Many of them are summed up through my own experience of raising cats, if there are some differences with everyone's usual treatment methods, or you have a better experience, please share them with more parents and friends in the comment area. (It is recommended to bookmark this article in case you need it.) )

One: in vitro diseases (fleas, cat moss, black chin, oily tail, paw pad peeling, eye secretions/tear marks, ear mites)

2. Gastrointestinal diseases (soft stool, thinning, spitting balls)

3. Infectious diseases (cat plague, cat spread abdomen, cat nose branch)

1. Fleas

Fleas are an ectoparasite that is often seen, especially in pets that are often out and about. The usual two or three monthly deworming can kill them in the cradle very well. Kitten's first deworming can be done in about 50 days, and the deworming drugs on the market are two yuan to 200 yuan, and the price is uneven. However, some deworming drugs are more toxic and may cause hair removal or even poisoning after use. For the sake of safety, it is recommended that when you deworm kittens, try to use in vitro deworming drugs for kittens.

2. Cat moss

Many parents feel that their heads are as big as a bucket as soon as they hear the cat moss. It is true that cat moss is a skin disease that is not fatal, but is very prone to recurrence. In general, the cat moss of small milk cats is concentrated on the face, which is due to the wet nipples of the mother cat and the milk on the face of the kitten is not cleaned up in time, breeding fungal infections, some people call it milk ringworm. If the little cat has a cat moss, it does not need to be medicated, only need to use a cotton swab to remove the dander and floating hair, and spray alcohol twice a day. (Some friends will smear iodine wine, but the color of iodine wine is relatively heavy, which will affect the original coat color, so it is not recommended)

If the cat is slightly older, it can be sprayed with alcohol first, followed by other topical medications for the treatment of cat moss. If the cat's moss is more serious and the long position is not easy to medicate, you can consider shaving. Try to shave slightly larger than the original cat moss, because the cat moss can easily spread to other places. In addition to external medication, cats over three months old can also be combined with the oral drug itraconazole (an antifungal drug). Daily dose: 10 mg/1Kg once a day. This drug is more burdensome on the liver and needs to be taken for three weeks a week. However, the effect is better, and it is recommended for cats with severe symptoms.

In addition, the kittens at home have cat moss, and we must pay attention to supplementing nutrition. B complex vitamins can repair the skin barrier, you can add some in the cat's diet, but VB is easy to fail in case of heat, so it must not be placed in hot water.

The cat moss is a small red pimple in the early stages, which is more itchy, and a round alopecia areata forms in the middle stages

3. Black chin

The black jaw of a cat is like a human blackhead, which is basically the only way for every cat. The reason is that the local cleaning is not in place or the diet is greasy.

Mild black chin is recommended to scrub in light salt water 2 to 3 times a day. You can also use a relatively thin soapy water, gently scrub it once a day, and then rinse it with water.

If the cat's black jaw is severe and has symptoms of ulceration or folliculitis, it can be shaved and applied twice a day using Baiduobang.

4. Oil tail

The oily tail is more common in unscientated male cats and is a manifestation of abnormal secretion of the sebaceous glands in the tail, and the treatment is similar to that of black chin. Mild oil tails can be scrubbed with soapy water, and if it is more severe, you can use Chlorhexidine to clean up every day after shaving.

5. Peeling of the claw pad

There are many different causes of cat paw pad peeling, the most common is the dry epidermis caused by lack of moisture, in which case vaseline moisturizing can be applied.

If there is dander and the cat often bites, be careful if it is a cat moss.

6. Eye discharge/tear marks

The flattened cat has a short nasal cavity, and the eyes are easily stimulated by the cold air or fragrance outside, which can lead to tears, and tear marks will form over time. This tear stain is not pathological, so there is no need to worry. Baby wipes can usually be prepared to clean up frequently, and there is an affordable alternative, which is cotton pads and saline. If the tear marks are more severe, it affects the color of the surrounding hairs. You can use a pet-specific shampoo, dilute and gently brush the hair under the eyelid with a small toothbrush, then rinse off with water. Persist four or five times and the tear stains will fade and disappear.

If the cat's eyes have secretions and they are red and swollen and cannot be opened, it may be conjunctivitis. Human chloramphenicol eye drops, or ofloxacin eye drops, are dropped once every two hours, and after four or five times the symptoms will be greatly relieved.

In the early stages of conjunctivitis, the eyes are red, swollen, lacrimated, and cannot be opened

But if the cat's eye secretions are white and purulent, it should be careful, which may be a symptom caused by the cat's nasal branch.

7. Ear mites

The treatment of ear mites is also a cliché, ear mites are ear parasites, which are accompanied by itching after infection, and cats often scratch their ears.

The treatment of ear mites generally uses boric acid ear drops, once a day, for 1 week, the ear mites can be well controlled. Usually nursed once a week, insist on a month, there will be no more ear mites.
