Imperial College London, founded in 1907 in London, England, is one of the world's leading public research universities specializing in science, engineering, medicine and business. The full name is Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, and the Ministry of Education of China officially translates it as Imperial College, also known as Imperial College London. Imperial College Has a top reputation in the international academic community, is one of the most innovative universities in the world, and ranks in the top ten of the world in various authoritative lists.

Campus environment

Imperial College is located in South Kensington, a standard wealthy district of London, just a stone's throw from the famous Hyde Park and Kensington Palace (where Princess Diana lived). The museums here are worth visiting, and there are plenty of large supermarkets within walking distance. Imperial College's architectural style is typical of eclecticism, combining classical and modern. [1]

Imperial College is an open university consisting of a multitude of scattered campuses, but most of the faculties are still located at the South Kensington Campus, south of London's prestigious Hyde Park and next to Royal Albert Hall, in London' Westminster City and the junction of the Royal Kensington and Chelsea districts, an area with a high concentration of academic institutions. The Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Royal College of Arts, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Royal Geographical Society are all nearby. There are also two larger campuses that are not in London, the Silwood Park campus in Bakershire and the Wye Campus, 60 miles east of London. The Queen's Tower in the middle of the South Kensington campus is a landmark on campus. At 287 feet (85 m), the tower is the only building that has survived from the former Imperial Institute. It was originally part of a building with a lobby where water tanks were previously set up. In the 1960s, the Imperial Institute was dismantled and Imperial College was expanded on the site of the Institute. Between 1966 and 1968, the tower was remodeled to become a separate building. Inside the tower hangs 10 large bells, a gift from Australia in 1982, named after members of the royal family. On every important royal birthday or other royal anniversary, the bell rings in the afternoon.
