The Turkish film "Brother's Guardian" won the Best Picture Award at the Chicago Film Festival

Director Ferit Karahan's childhood play Okul Tıraşı (Guardian of the Brothers) won Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Editing at the 58th Antlaya Golden Orange Film Festival, and was named Best Picture at the Chicago International Film Festival, regarded as one of the Oscar hits.

Director Callahan's second feature film, Guardians of the Brothers, has been winning awards at many awards ceremonies. The most recent was at the Chicago International Film Festival, which won the Golden Hugo Award for Best Picture.

Set against the backdrop of a stressful day at an isolated boarding school, the film follows a boy's desperate struggle to save his sick friend as he faces a stiff bureaucracy, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). The film will also appear at the 14th Asia Pacific Film Awards and the 34th European Film Awards.

The film will be nominated for best young feature film at the Asia Pacific Film Awards in Australia on November 11, and the European Film Awards for Best Film, organized by the European Film Institute, will be held on December 11 in Berlin, Germany.

The Brother's Guardian tells the touching story of a boy named Joseph, a boy who enters a harsh boarding school where he is subjected to intense pressure and discipline. The camera follows Yusuf overcoming the bureaucracy of the school, the ruthlessness of the executive branch, and the difficult geographical conditions to send his sick friend to the doctor.

Drawing inspiration from his own life story, Callahan worked with Gülistan Acet to write the screenplay for the film, which was produced by Kanat Doğramacı. Türksoy Gölebeyi is cinematographer, while Sercan Sezgin and Hayedeh Safiyari are editors.

Ekin Koç, Mahir İpek, Cansu Fırıncı, Melih Selçuk and child actor Samet Yıldız starred in the film. Other child roles were assigned to locals in the Bahçesaray region of Van province in eastern Turkey ( where the film was filmed ) . Italy-based Intramovies oversees the film's global distribution.

Guardian of the Brothers also won the International Film Critics Award (FIPRESCI) at the 71st Berlin Film Festival, and has won a series of other awards since it first appeared at the festival.

The film, produced by Asteros Film Company, continues to participate in film festivals around the world. This is only the second feature film of the award-winning director, whose debut novel Cennetten Kovulmak (Autumn in the Garden of Eden) has received many accolades. The dramatic film was filmed in early 2019 in the Bachesaray district of Van Province.
