Macao, 26 Jun (China News Service) -- On the eve of the CPC's centennial birthday, the Macao Federation of Legal Workers held a "forum on the CPC and 'one country, two systems'" on 26 June. Zhang Rongshun, deputy director of the Macao Central Liaison Office, pointed out at the meeting that the relationship between the leadership of the CPC and "one country, two systems" is inseparable, and only by upholding the leadership of the CPC can we ensure that "one country, two systems" will be stable and far-reaching.
Zhang Rongshun said, "Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China." The cause of the Communist Party of China is the cause of the people and is closely related to all Chinese, and upholding the leadership of the Communist Party of China is to safeguard the most fundamental interests of the Chinese people.
He pointed out that the leadership of the CPC is inseparable from "one country, two systems," and without the strong leadership of the CPC, there would be no tremendous achievements in the practice of "one country, two systems."
Zhang Rongshun hoped that Macao's legal circles would take the lead in carrying forward the fine tradition of patriotism and love for Macao, adhere to the fundamental principle of "patriots governing Macao," consciously respect and safeguard the leadership of the Communist Party of China, take the lead in publicizing and implementing the Constitution and the Basic Law, earnestly safeguard the constitutional order of the SPECIAL Administrative Region, and make greater contributions to promoting the successful practice of "one country, two systems" in Macao.
Chui Sai Cheong, president of the Macao Federation of Legal Workers, said that facts have proved that the "one country, two systems" proposed by the Communist Party of China is not only the best solution for the Macao issue left over from history, but also the best system for maintaining long-term prosperity and stability after Macao's return to the motherland. As an inseparable part of China, respecting and safeguarding the leadership of the Communist Party of China is an important part of the constitutional order of the Macao SAR jointly established by the Constitution and the Basic Law, the basic requirement of "patriots governing Macao" and the basic bottom line for safeguarding national security, and an important guarantee for the steady and far-reaching cause of "one country, two systems" in Macao, which must not be undermined.
The forum was presided over by Huang Xianhui, chairman of the Macao Federation of Legal Workers, Qiu Tingbiao, executive vice president and secretary general, and Luo Weijian and Fang Quan, vice presidents, who also made keynote speeches at the meeting. (End)
