Overlapping Gazes – An exhibition of Zhang Jie's works was held at the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum on October 31. Overlapping Gazes – Zhang Jie's Works Exhibition is an interlibrary exchange project between the Chongqing Art Museum and the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum, as well as the projects of "Chongqing Talents - Innovative Leading Talents" and "Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts Outstanding Talents Funding Program", as well as a phased achievement display of the National Arts Fund Art Creation Project. The exhibition is co-sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum, Chongqing Art Museum and Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, and curated by Yin Shuangxi, a famous Chinese art theorist and professor of China Academy of Art. The exhibition exhibits more than 90 of Zhang Jie's oil paintings, which are composed of four parts: urban landscape, realistic concern, language thinking, and Chinese landscape. The multi-visual and multi-form exhibition uses artistic methods to express the diverse landscapes of people and cities, people and nature and people and society in the rapid development process of China today, and the artist uses oil paintings to interpret the overlap between the external world and the inner world, the overlap between social space and natural space, and the overlap between the microscopic world and the macroscopic world. Oil painter Zhang Jie uses layers of oil painting techniques, freehand Chinese charm, simple and thick realistic expression, and colorful color language to express the artist's unique perception and understanding of today's world.
The painting's expression of current social life strikes at the heart. In the congratulatory letter sent by the China Oil Painting Society, it is particularly mentioned: "Mr. Zhang Jie's oil painting creation pays attention to real social life, is full of humanistic care, and attaches great importance to the research and analysis of the traditional oil painting language, And China's long-standing traditional culture and ink painting full of charm are reflected in his paintings at the same time, enabling him to create oil paintings that are very different from the West and have Chinese literary feelings." Zhang Jie said to himself: "In this exhibition, I want to reconstruct our experience of perceiving the world in such a limited physical space as the exhibition hall." So I chose some works that span a large span of time and space to overlap together. When we look around in the exhibition hall: majestic and quiet mountains, high-rise cities, fearful relatives, dream-chasing people, they exist at the same time, constituting the real appearance of this certain world; the old docks of decades ago, the bustling and bustling cities of today, the martyrs of the war years, the laborers of the peaceful and prosperous world, they also exist at the same time, as if they are traveling through different parallel worlds. ”
The amount of information conveyed in the paintings is rich and dense. Chairman Zhou Jingxin especially mentioned the "Sichuan flavor" of the art world: Sichuan's art gave him a very grounded and unique impression, but the language always carried an international style, the vision was very broad, and it was never conservative. This time Zhang Jie came to Nanjing to hold an exhibition, which is a good learning opportunity for Jiangsu art circles. After observing the exhibition, he felt that Zhang Jie's paintings were "very colorful and have a fiery feeling in Sichuan." Each of his works, whether landscapes, figures, cities or landscapes, as well as some semi-abstract oil paintings, can make people feel that the colors themselves are emotional and tangible, and give the works a sense of flow with special brushstrokes, textures diverse, interlaced and integrated colors."
