Integrating Marxism-Leninism with the concrete reality of semi-colonialism and semi-feudalism in modern China, the Communist Party of China for the first time raised the glorious banner of thorough opposition to imperialism, feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism, and led all forces that could be united to declare war on imperialism, feudal stubborn forces and bureaucratic capitalism. 　　First, from 1949 to 1953, in response to the stubborn resistance of the Kuomintang reactionaries and the large-scale subversion and sabotage activities, our Party resolutely issued an order to quickly eliminate all Kuomintang reactionaries in China who dared to resist and complete the great cause of the reunification of the motherland, and promulgated the "Instructions on Suppressing Counter-Revolutionary Activities" and the "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Punishing Counter-Revolutionaries." Under the guidance of the Party's call, the Chinese People's Liberation Army annihilated the remnants of the Kuomintang reactionaries and liberated the southwestern and southeastern provinces; the broad masses of the people, under the instructions and guidance of the Party, launched a mass movement to suppress counter-revolution, basically eliminating the remnants of the Kuomintang forces, and thus resolutely resisting the Kuomintang reactionaries' attacks and raids on the mainland.

　　China's reform and opening up was carried out on the basis of a large population, a large proportion of illiterate and semi-illiterate people, a widespread existence of the natural economy and a semi-natural economy, a large number of poor people, a backward level of productive forces, and the decadent ideology of feudalism. In view of this new historical feature, our party has combined Marxism with the specific reality of China in the new era and creatively proposed: In the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the main contradiction in our society is the contradiction between the people's growing needs for a better life and the unbalanced and inadequate development of productive forces. In order to better resolve this major contradiction so as to enhance the people's well-being and meet the people's expectations for a better life, our party has established a new goal for the next step of China's development: in the first stage, 2020-2035, on the basis of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, socialist modernization will be basically realized; in the second stage, 2035-2049, on the basis of basically realizing modernization, we will build our country into a prosperous, strong, democratic, civilized, harmonious and beautiful socialist modern power.

In order to achieve this goal, since 2013, great efforts have been made to accurately alleviate poverty. After seven years of hard work, by November 23, 2020, 832 state-level poverty-stricken counties in 22 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, including Tibet, which is crowned by 74 poverty-stricken counties, will all be lifted out of poverty, lifting about 100 million poor people out of poverty and achieving the United Nations poverty reduction goal 10 years ahead of schedule.
