Huang Chao (1905.8—1992.7)

Formerly known as Huang Xuanhua. Zhuang. Bama people. In October 1926, he joined the Phoenix District Farmers' Association as a correspondent and director of the Peasants' Self-Defense Army. In December 1929, he participated in the Baise Uprising and served as a member of the Grain Committee of the Soviet Government of the Bachai District. In 1930, he joined the 3rd Column of the Seventh Red Army.

He joined the Communist Party of China in October 1930. He served as the director of the 1st Column of the Seventh Red Army and participated in the battle to defend the revolutionary base area of Youjiang. In November 1930, he accompanied the Red Seventh Army on an expedition north.

After arriving at the Central Revolutionary Base Area in July 1931, he served as an instructor of the 56th Regimental Company of the 19th Division of the Third Red Army, an instructor of the Guard Company of the 4th Division, and an officer of the Political Department of the Third Bureau of the Central Military Commission. Participated in the third to fifth anti-"encirclement and suppression" and long marches of the central revolutionary base areas.

In October 1936, he entered the second phase of the University of the Red Army. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as an officer of the Political Department of the 385th Brigade of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army, the chief of the Organization Unit of the Political Department of the 770th Regiment, the political commissar of the Teaching Team of the 385th Brigade, the director of the Political Department of the Eighth Military Subdistrict of the Jiluyu Military Region, the director of the Political Department of the organs directly under the Central Military Commission, and the regimental officer of the Security Department of the General Political Department. Participated in many anti-"sweeping" battles in the Jilu-Yu Border Region.

In 1943, he returned to Yan'an and participated in the Yan'an rectification movement and the large-scale production movement. During the Liberation War, he served as the director of the political department of the 1st Brigade of the Rehe Column and the director of the political department of the 18th Division of the 6th Column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army. He participated in the battles of Sanxia Jiangnan, Sibao Linjiang, Taiping, jinzhou and so on. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as political commissar and director of the Political Department of the Artillery Logistics Department of the Fourth Field Army, political commissar of the Artillery Logistics Department of the Northeast Military Region, and political commissar of the Oil Department of the Logistics Department of the Shenyang Military Region. He was awarded the rank of colonel in 1955. He was awarded the Order of August 1 of the Third Class, the Order of Independence and Freedom of the Second Class, and the Order of Liberation of the Second Class.

In 1965, he left his post in Guilin to recuperate. In 1988, he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Red Star, Second Class. Enjoy the treatment of deputy corps. He is a member of the Standing Committee of the Fourth CPPCC Autonomous Region. He died in Guilin on July 31, 1992.
