Huang Shanshou (1855-1919), formerly known as Yao (曜), was a native of Wujin (present-day Changzhou), Jiangsu Province. Officials are directly subordinate to Tongzhi. He is one of the few early-wise genius painters and the master of "all-round calligraphy and painting" among the painters of the Maritime School, such as figures, ladies, green landscapes, double hooked flowers and birds, and ink dragons, walking beasts, grass worms, ink plums, bamboo stones, all of which are indispensable.
