As the "troika" of Tencent and Yuwen's in-depth layout of film and television business, Tencent Pictures, Xinli Media and Yuwen Film and Television held a joint press conference on June 13 in Shanghai. This is the second time that three film and television entities announced the formation of a film and television content production system in October last year.
At the press conference, Cheng Wu, Vice President of Tencent Group, CEO of Yuwen Group, CEO of Tencent Pictures, and Chairman of Tencent Animation, shared the trend insights on how the film and television industry can find and enhance certainty in uncertainty with the title of "Light and Shadow Through Time and Let Good Stories Live". Based on this, Cheng Wu systematically and clearly expounded the thinking in the three directions of realistic theme layout, IP series development and IP industry chain creation.

Cheng Wu believes that film and television have great uncertainty due to their rich attributes, and as the impact of the epidemic continues to superimpose, it has brought greater challenges to this naturally high-risk industry.
How do you find a sense of certainty in the midst of high uncertainty? Cheng Wu frankly said that he did not dare to say that there was an answer, but the "troika" was actively looking for "solution ideas" through the observation and practice of the industry, hoping to work hard in three directions.
The first direction is to do a good job of realistic themes. Cheng Wu believes that looking back at the major periods in the past year, whether it is "Hello, Li Huanying" or last year's "Eight Hundred", the box office champion is basically a realistic theme work.
"A good story, hidden in real life, realistic themes, is always the biggest 'rich mine' of IP." Cheng Wu said that realistic theme works are the type of "troika" that has been invested the most at present.
At the press conference on the same day, Cheng Wu introduced the "Melody of the Times" trilogy composed of "1921", "The World of Man" and "Heart Residence". Among them, "1921" is a gift for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, and has been unveiled as the opening film of the Shanghai Film Festival. Cheng Wu also mentioned that Yuwen has been vigorously supporting the creation of online literature with realistic themes, and will also promote the film and television development of more excellent online literature on realistic themes in the future, shaping the IP of the times.
The second direction is to develop high-quality web texts and animation IP. At the beginning of this year, the "Troika" jointly created the "Son-in-law" relay "Qing Yu Nian" and became an industry phenomenon- drama. Cheng Wu believes that stories that are multi-verified are the most valuable assets in the fight against uncertainty.
Cheng Wu said that the online literature ecology is gradually becoming the biggest creative "nursery" of China's film and television industry. A key measure to promote the upgrading of "Big Reading" is to carry out overall planning and systematic development of online texts and animation IP, so that more good seedlings like "Qing Yu Nian" and "Son-in-law" have the opportunity to grow into big trees in the sky.
The third direction is to promote the exploration of creative ecology and production industrialization, create an IP industry chain with Chinese characteristics, and enhance certainty at the entire creative ecological level.
In his speech, Cheng Wu shared his "new views" on the "old proposition" of industrialization: "What we want to actively catch up with is the industrialization of production, not the industrialization of creativity, and it is difficult to industrialization in the early stage of creative incubation. In Cheng Wu's view, creativity cannot be industrialized, but it can be ecologized. Taking "Son-in-law" as an example, the popularity of the series has led to the daily life of the original work of the network text and the surge of fans, and the energy of a good story can flow within the IP ecology, accumulating potential energy for subsequent development.
Cheng Wu said that in the future, it will continue to promote the in-depth integration of business, and build the "troika" into a backbone that fully links the industrial chains such as Reading Group and Tencent Animation, and inject more impetus into the IP industry chain.
