"Chinese Celebrities" Qing. Gu Yanwu

Gu Yanwu (1613-1682), whose original name was 绛, the character Zhongqing, died in the Ming Dynasty, changed his name to Yanwu, the character Ningren, the scholar honored as Mr. Tinglin, a native of Kunshan, Jiangsu. Outstanding thinkers, scribes, historians and phonologists of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, together with Wang Fuzhi, Huang Zongxi and Tang Zhen, were called the "Four Great Enlightenment Thinkers" of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. There is a famous sentence left: "The world rises and falls, and the pirate is responsible."

Since the age of 27, Gu Yanwu has categorically rejected the study of Keju Thekuo, and his clear interest in learning to be applied to the world, the simple and inductive method of examination, the spirit of exploration of creating paths, and his achievements in many academic fields have announced the end of the late Ming Dynasty's empty style of study, opened the way for a generation of simple study styles, and given a very beneficial influence to Qing Dynasty scholars.

Major works: "Rizhilu", "Tianxia County Guoli Disease Book", "Zhaoyu Zhi".

Main achievements: To open up the atmosphere of simple learning; to put forward the idea of applying the world to the world and saving the world in the Ming Dao.
