On June 13, the reporter learned from the Junfang Family Farm in Tianhua Village, Changsha County, Hunan Province, that more than 40 mu of oil sunflowers planted by the farmer Yang Fang have now bloomed, attracting many citizens to come to watch.
On the morning of the same day, the reporter came to the oil sunflower planting base of Junfang Family Farm, at this time the oil sunflower has entered the flowering period, and the "sunflowers" in the garden are blooming and the fragrance of flowers is fragrant, forming a gorgeous and wonderful golden pastoral landscape. "Oil sunflowers are not grown purely for ornamental purposes, they are also a crop of high economic value." Yang Fang told reporters that the oil sunflower plant is short and has a short growth cycle, which is one of the four major oil crops in China, and its sunflower seeds can squeeze out high-grade edible sunflower oil with low cholesterol.
"Tianhua Village is a provincial-level poor village, in order to help the villagers get rid of poverty and get rich, the local poor households have been mobilized to breed, provide seedlings and technology free of charge and guarantee the purchase." Yang Fang told reporters that when she learned that planting oil sunflowers can not only produce considerable economic benefits, but also drive local rural tourism and increase the income of villagers, she immediately began to implement it.
"The growth period of oil sunflower and rice is generally the same, and it can be planted for two seasons." Yang Fang said that the first season was planted from March this year and has flowered so far, with a flowering period of about 20 days, and the second season will bloom and bear fruit around October. This year, there is more rain, and the oil sunflowers, which have entered the ripening stage, are only now blooming.
Although the climate of Changsha County this year has had a certain impact on oil sunflowers, but for this industry, Yang Fang is still full of confidence, she told reporters that an acre of oil sunflowers can normally produce 400-500 kilograms of oil sunflower seeds, and a pound of oil sunflower seeds can squeeze out 0.48-0.52 kilograms of oil, and the price of each kilogram of oil is more than 30 yuan, "that is to say, one mu can produce 6000-8000 yuan of benefits." ”
"Take the oil sunflower as an opportunity to mobilize villagers to plant and form an industrial chain, while tapping its tourism value, developing characteristic tourism, and helping villagers get rich and increase income." For the future planning, Yang Fang said.
