The rural monuments of Jianchuan are so famous, what about the county scenery of Jianchuan? At 4 p.m. on July 19, 2021, the author came out of the Garden Hotel residence and wanted to go to the ancient city to have a experience.
Turn left along a street to Pearl Square, and then go forward for about 100 meters, that is, to the entrance of a large archway in the ancient city. This archway has just been completed, and the inscriptions on it have not yet been written. The streets of the entire ancient city also seem to have only recently opened, and there are not many people coming and going. There are also many empty facades on both sides. But the streets look neat and hygienic. The building is also quaint, with Bai residential characteristics. On the side of the intersection of north-south and east-west main streets, there are two signs, one reads "Jianchuan Ancient City Historical and Cultural Block" and the other reads "Neighborhood Profile". From this introduction, it is known that the block of this ancient city is demarcated as east to Gucheng East Road and west to Gucheng West Road. South of the Ancient City South Road, north to the North Road of the Ancient City, with a total area of 35.71 hectares. There are 1 national key cultural relics protection unit, 2 state-level cultural relics protection units, 7 county-level cultural relics protection units, and 87 historical buildings listed and protected by the county people's government within the block.
According to the prompts of this introduction, the author continues to the west for about two hundred meters, and sees that there is a "Yunshang Nostalgia Academy" next to the road, the appearance of the building is very good, and the couplets on both sides read: "The hometown is inspired by the ancient name Bang Duo Xianjun, and there are documents in the City of Sorrows that have been written in Kyushu." Walking into the bookstore, I saw a variety of books, and the salesman was a beautiful woman wearing Bai costumes. Instead of talking about the scenery of the ancient city of Jianchuan, the beauty told her that not far ahead, you can see an ancient building, which is the essence of the ancient city. The author then left the shop and continued to go forward for about 100 meters, and in the distance I saw an ancient building with 4-story cornices. Looking closer, there is a plaque in the middle of the cornice on the top floor, which reads "Jianyang Lou" in 3 large golden characters, and in the middle of the cornice on the third floor is written "Literature Name State" 4 large green characters. The lowest level of the cornice is an open semicircular stage, about two meters high and larger in area. There are several corridor pillars on the platform, on which are engraved multiple couplets.
In front of the Jianyang Building, there is a spacious ping tower, lined with many buildings such as the Jianchuan Library. On the right there is a promenade garden, lined with trees, and a stream babbling through the ping tower. Outside the building on the left, there are also facilities such as sinks. Overall, this area is home to the Ximen Street complex. It was built from the thirteenth year of Akihiroji (1500) to the second year of Chongzhen (1629), and consists of 9 courtyards. In 2006, it was included in the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. These historical buildings are outstanding representatives of the architectural remains of the Ming Dynasty in Yunnan, and are also important landmark buildings in the initial formation period of Jianchuan Ancient City.
On ximen street, there is also a building with Bai characteristics, and the plaque on the front of the main entrance is written with several large characters "Zhao Fan Exhibition Hall". The couplet on both sides is "Five leaders praise Qi, a century of southern Yunnan one wizard". When I walked in, I found that the exhibition hall listed the life pictures of Zhao Fan, Zhou Zhongyue and other five outstanding figures from Jianchuan. Jianchuan is a place where talents are born, and there are many celebrities in history. In the Guangming and Qing dynasties, there were 21 jinshi. It is said that there were more than 20 arches in the original ancient city, such as "Jinshifang" and "Chastity Fang", but most of them have been destroyed. Now on the South Road of the ancient city, you can still see an ancient archway, with two big characters written on it: "Jinshi". The author came to this street, look at the buildings on both sides of the street, most of them are newly built antique buildings, and there are couplets posted in front of each door, such as a door plaque that reads "Good to learn private school", and the couplets on both sides are "Cultivating and reading family training to pass on to future generations, diligent learning style is remembered for thousands of years", revealing a strong historical and cultural atmosphere.
In the South Gate Street, you will also see the Ichibunkoku-ji Temple, which has a Heavenly King Hall, enshrined in the Statues of the Heavenly King, Maitreya and other Buddhas, which look golden and brilliant. At the end of Gunanmen Street, I saw many ancient willow trees, which had a unique scenery, but many buildings were still under construction. Turning back to North Gate Street, I saw that the two sides were covered in red and colorful, and the shops were more lively. There are also slightly more pedestrians, and the smell of fireworks is relatively stronger. Walking to the front of the "Former Residence of Zhang Bojian", I saw that its gate was closed and I could not enter it to visit. Next to it is a small shop that specializes in all kinds of snacks. The signs read dozens of snack foods such as brown sugar glutinous rice dumplings, beef rolling, butter tea, rice wine eggs, chopped wood dumplings, hand-kneaded bait blocks, white rice bait blocks, spicy fried potatoes, spicy mixed potatoes, and spicy sausages. Because there were more people buying snacks here, I resisted the temptation of its aroma and ate a bowl of dumplings at a noodle shop on the way back to deal with dinner.
After dinner, I went to the new city for a while, and saw that the Bai people's "three squares and one wall" and "four-in-five patios" and other buildings are everywhere. When I met an old man in a leisure place on the street, the author asked him what Bai main temples were in the city? The old man said, there is wow, the ancient city god in the south of the city is the first of the "eighteen altar gods" in Jinhua, and all the Jinhua ancient temples, Wuhou Ancestral Hall, Manxian Lin Leizu Hall, Xuandu Temple outside the West Gate, Doumu Pavilion, etc. in the Taoist field in the city can be seen. There are also many believers in Jianchuan Buddhism, and the Prince Temple Fair on the eighth day of the second month of the lunar calendar is the most lively, and on that day the county town was full of tourists.
Listening to the old man's words, I thought that the time of this plan was relatively hasty, and the old man said that these temples and other monuments in the county town had not been seen, but in fact, after seeing this ancient city, I had also experienced that the atmosphere of the Jianchuan Literature Ancient State was indeed very strong. The new city area of Jianchuan is also large, with seven vertical and seven horizontal streets, the overall planning is also scientific and reasonable, and the road buildings are very new. The ancient city has a long history, and after the renovation of the houses, the appearance has been renewed. Regardless of the new city and the old city, there are many documents and relics that seem to be everywhere. I'll see it again next time I have a chance!
