I had just received the book "Looking East" from the editor-in-chief of the Yangtze River Daily sent by Chen Guang and Yang Jinwen, and I was confused.
The book "Looking East" shows the Wuhan project on the "Belt and Road": part of it is focused on the Maritime Silk Road, including Southeast Asia, South Asia's Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, etc.; the other part is focused on the traditional Silk Road, including Central Asian countries, Russia, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Angola, etc. The "southward march" construction army from Wuhan is grand. Isn't my mindset that "Looking South" and "Looking West" are more appropriate? Recently, Wang Anyi's novella "To the West, To the West, to the South" received excellent response.
Mr. Li Zhaoxing gave a clear answer in the preface to the book, "Looking East" originated from the words of a friend in Tanzania, and The then President of the Tanzanian National Social Security Foundation, Mataka, said: "We have looked west in Tanzania for so many years, what have we got?" I think it's time to change the mindset and look east. ”
This is a subversion of conventional wisdom. To be precise, it is a challenge to the one-way globalization that used to be dominated by Western countries. As Mr. Wang Yiyan said in the preface, the "Belt and Road" strategy is different from the old globalization - more of a partial globalization of coastal areas and developed groups, but with the pursuit of fair competition, focusing on sharing and sharing meteorological mind.

"Looking East" records for us the inclusive, balanced, inclusive and global practice exploration embodied in the Wuhan project on the "Belt and Road" with a new perspective. Although the more than 20 projects introduced in "Looking East" can only be a small part of the country's implementation of the "Belt and Road" strategy, it reflects a successful case of global development full of Oriental wisdom and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results from one side. In this sense, LookIng East is an accelerator for the implementation of the Belt and Road strategy.
The book "Looking East" interviewed 10 entrepreneurs involved in the construction of the "Belt and Road" respectively, and learned from the interview that the Wuhan enterprises participating in the construction of the "Belt and Road" showed great enthusiasm and enthusiasm. They regard participating in the construction of the "Belt and Road" as part of their integration into the globalization strategy, and at the same time, they are also a major measure for enterprises to bravely go out and open up new markets. Chen Huayuan, chairman of China Construction Third Bureau, hopes to take advantage of the "Belt and Road" east wind to participate in international competition more actively and improve the ability of enterprises to allocate resources globally. Liu Ziming, chairman of the China Railway Bridge Bureau, believes that the "Belt and Road" is becoming our giant ship, and believes that this giant ship can take us farther and better. Of course, there are also some people who wear colored glasses who criticize the "Belt and Road" strategy as a plunder and expansion of overseas markets. The book "Looking East" gives a strong explanation with the personal feelings of the people of the countries along the "Belt and Road": China's "Belt and Road" strategy is a great initiative to achieve complementary advantages, mutual exchange of goods and rebalancing of resources.
Reading the book "Looking East" gave me an enlightenment, Wuhan's engineering, design and construction have made a good start in implementing the "Belt and Road" strategy, and have accumulated a lot of successful experience. Wuhan, as a megacity in China, has a number of universities, large scientific research units, with the Optics Valley as the focus of the private economy has also shown strong competitiveness, whether in manufacturing, high-tech industries, modern service industries, modern agriculture and other aspects have the strength to participate in international competition, should learn from the "Look East" model, give play to the advantages, seize the opportunity, and strive to implement the "Belt and Road" strategy to have greater achievements.
