With the killing of the Emperor Jiang, the political body of the Sui Dynasty also officially announced the end of the stage of Chinese history, the two small emperors and grandsons of the east and west capitals are destined to be only the victims of the hands of the players who are chasing the deer in the world, as for the fate of the sui emperor's harem and the women of the clan room, it is really not worth regretting the main history of ink and gold to examine.

Therefore, Empress Xiao, who was once able to "secretly do not use jinglun" to help her husband to seize the concubine, in the official history after the death of Sui, has always been a silent and stoic image, it seems that it is just a piece of fluttering and drifting, allowing the hand of fate to push among various careerists. As for the folk history, on the basis of Empress Xiao's real life trajectory, regardless of her actual age, she was more than fifty years old, and she could still be obscenified as the so-called "Six Emperors and Empresses".

Of course, the specific experience and thoughts of the real Empress Xiao after the fall of the country have been annihilated in the sands of history, falling into an endless dark night, almost completely unexamined. Fortunately, there are also underground golden stone epitaphs, which occasionally reveal the secrets of the eternal night, like a candle, emitting some shimmer, illuminating a small space, allowing future generations to spy on a small corner, and can restore a little bit of how a tough woman who was intentionally or unintentionally ignored by the history books did not do so in the tragic and fearful situation of the fall of the country and the wolf, exerted her wisdom and courage, made a most favorable choice, went to the northern desert, and defected to the Turkic Princess Ofghe Dunyi City who was loyal to the Sui Dynasty, protecting and preserving the blood of her relatives.

In recent years, a Tang Dynasty epitaph has been unearthed in the Xianyang area of Shaanxi Province, and the owner of the epitaph is called Hu Si Zhengze, whose special status and experience have exposed some historical secrets that are not recorded in historical books.

Huo Si Zhengze, Zi Gongxian, father and grandfather were all high-ranking officials of the Sui Dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Wen of Sui, he was promoted to crown prince Jinma (from later on he became an aide to the King of Qi, the crown prince may refer to Yang Guang), and after Yang Guang ascended the throne, he was given the title of Prince of Qi. Later, from the conquest of Goryeo, he was awarded the title of Lieutenant of Letter, and in the ninth year of Daye, from The Capital of Jiangdu, to the North Gate Suwei, it can be said that he was a relatively loyal son of Emperor Jue. The Quan Tang Wen Supplement contains his epitaph, which records the movements of the remnants of the Sui imperial family headed by Empress Xiao after the change of Jiangdu, which should be said to be a very valuable historical material.

The epitaph records: "After accompanying Xiao, he was far away from Liyang. Wei Wan died in the jackal and was martyred in dogs and horses. After that, both secretly harbored the north, and the public truth did not discuss the south. Things are busy, and the followers are obstructed. Dragon City and cut off the road, And The Turtle Luo is lost. Weeping and pestering Xu Bo's mourning, Linqi fell to Ruan Zong's tears. Fang Shuo went up to Dongjing, thinking of the King of Long Yan, and near the North of Yue, he was killed by the mouth of the bee... The king was righteous, and even saw the courtesy. ”

From this passage, we can extract the following information:

1. After the change of Jiangdu Palace, Hu Sizheng and others have been serving Xiao Hou and arrived in Liyang with Yu Wenhua.

2. Xiao Hou's trip to the Turks seemed to have been a relatively secretive thing for a while, and there were also people who advocated returning to the south at that time.

3. Empress Xiao seems to have been in a hurry to go to the Turks, and her entourage had been prevented from following Empress Xiao.

4. For some reason, Hu Sizheng failed to follow Xiao Hou, and his way to the Turks was blocked, and he got lost on the way to Luoyang.

5. Huo Sizheng originally intended to defect to Yang Tong or Yang You (two children of Yang Zhao, the prince of Yuande of the Sui Dynasty), but was ambushed near Luoyang, and then fell into the hands of Wang Shichong.

Let me analyze it point by point:

When Yu Wenhua went north, he wanted to capture the place of Liyang. There is a large warehouse here in Liyang, where Yang Xuangan's uprising was located before, and later it was returned to Li Mi. This place was very attractive to Yuwen Jun, who was running out of food at that time. However, Yu Wenhua and li mi encountered li mi in this place, and several battles were unfavorable, so they had to fight elsewhere. Later, Yu Wenhua usurped the throne in Wei County, and ran to the place of Liaocheng, where he was arrested by Dou Jiande. In the biographies of Empress Xiao and Princess Nanyang, it is mentioned that they were "not in Dou Jiande" in Liaocheng. The epitaph only mentions "Li Yang", and it is not known whether this Hu Sizheng was once separated from Xiao Hou and his party in Liyang, and then reconciled.

The second point is that after the secret of the north, the public truth has not been discussed in the south.

Translated from this sentence, it is that Xiao Hou secretly decided to go north to rely on Princess Yicheng, and Hu Sigong did not advocate going south. In this short sentence, the amount of information in it is not small.

After the emissaries sent by Princess Yicheng contacted Empress Xiao, the Sui Dynasty officials who followed Empress Xiao at that time may have split into two factions. One faction advocates going north, while the other advocates going south, returning to Jiangdu, and dividing Jiangnan.

And we need to pay attention to the word "secret". The Book of Northern Qi, The Ninth Chronicle of Liechuan, "and Erzhu Zhao' and other rebellions, Gao Zu secretly cherished kuangfu's plan, Jin and Lou Zhao, Xu Digan, and others were in favor of the great conspiracy, and still followed the righteousness"; the Northern History, vol. 71, "Su and so on: "Ji Mi Huai Zuo Dao, tired of the emperor and relatives..." Book of Southern Qi, vol. 40: "Zi Mao saw the young lord xin li, secretly planned to make self-improvement, and ordered the zuobu to make a staff"... From the above examples, we can see that "secret nostalgia" is usually used for secret things. Empress Xiao's plan to go north may have been secretly decided by her and not made public.

Third, things are busy and obstruct the followers.

The meaning of this sentence is obvious, Empress Xiao's trip to the Turks is a matter of hurry, and many of her retinue guards are also hindered from following Xiao Hou.

"Northern Shi Hou Concubine Xia" "Is when the Turkic Luo Khan Fang Sheng, whose Kehe Dun, that is, the Princess of Sui Yicheng, sent envoys to welcome the queen." Jiande did not dare to stay, so he took his grandson Zhengdao and his daughters into the court. ”

The Sui Shu Liechuan No. 1 reads: "The Luo Khan sent envoys to welcome him to Huanzhou, but Jiande did not dare to stay, so he entered the Yu court. These two records indicate that Empress Xiao went north with Dou Jiande's knowledge. However, at that time, with Dou Jiande's knowledge, would he be so hasty that he could not even bring his attendants? If Dou Jiande agreed to Xiao Hou going north, would he deliberately detain the guards around Xiao Hou? At that time, Yu Wenhua and the Xiao Guo he was carrying, the escape was scattered, and the rest was also under the control of Dou Jiande, and he was not embarrassed that Xiao Hou did not even give the guards.

Before, I had also been confused as to why Princess Nanyang and Xiao Hou were separated. "The Biography of the Daughters of Lie" and Jiande defeated, will return to Xijing, and fu and Shi and meet In Dongdu." The Lord does not meet with him. Princess Nanyang remained with Dou Jiande until he was defeated by Li Tang.

From this sentence in the epitaph, it is revealed that Xiao Hou's journey north was carried out secretly without Dou Jiande's knowledge, or after the arrival of the Turkic emissaries, although Dou Jiande promised to release people, he deliberately delayed, so Xiao Hou suddenly attacked and escaped from Dou Jiande's control. This could also explain why Princess Nanyang did not follow Empress Xiao. However, there is also a possibility that on the way north, a faction that originally intended to go south tried to coerce Xiao Hou and Yang Zhengdao to go south, and Xiao Hou decided to go north, and in the conflict and dispute, Hu Sizheng and Xiao Hou were separated.

I will not dwell on some of the remaining experiences of Husse's political rules.

All in all, Xiao Hou's journey north was not very peaceful, and some kind of change occurred in the middle, causing the guards who followed all the way to be separated from Xiao Hou and his party. Whether this change originated from dou jiande, internal conflict among personnel, or from rebel armies and even Turks along the way is uncertain.
