The 3rd Central Enterprise Yixing Innovation and Creativity Competition summary and awarding activity was held in Beijing on October 25. Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the award ceremony strictly controlled the number of participants, and 5 project representatives were selected from the winning projects of the competition to present the awards on the spot, and the "Rock Flake Intelligent Identification System" independently developed by the China Petroleum Exploration and Development Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Exploration Institute) took the stage as one of the 5 winning representatives to receive the award.
State Councilor Wang Yong attended and delivered a speech. Hao Peng, secretary and director of the PARTY Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Meng Yang, deputy secretary general of the State Council, and other leaders attended the meeting, and Dai Houliang, chairman of the board of directors and secretary of the party group of China National Petroleum Corporation, and other responsible persons of central enterprises attended the meeting.
The third central enterprise star innovation and creativity competition is sponsored by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the competition attracted 3340 teams from major central enterprises, scientific research institutions, universities and society across the country to participate, through 6 stages, nearly a year of competition, a total of 100 outstanding projects into the national finals. The finals were awarded 20 first prizes, 30 second prizes and 50 third prizes. The "Rock Flake Intelligent Identification System" independently developed by the Exploration Institute won the first prize as the only project of PetroChina to enter the national finals, and was recommended by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission to participate in the 2021 National Mass Entrepreneurship Innovation Activity Week Exhibition. During the exhibition of the Double Creation Week, the "Rock Flake Intelligent Identification System" received widespread attention and was interviewed by Henan Satellite TV.
The "Intelligent Identification System for Rock Flakes" is jointly developed by Academician Liu He as the general responsibility, and the Artificial Intelligence Research Center of the Academy of Exploration and the North China Oilfield Branch are jointly developed. The project brings together a number of senior rock and mine identification experts and a young team of AI algorithm engineers, through nearly a year of joint attack, overcome multiple difficulties such as multi-light source, multi-angle sequence image recognition, and small sample multi-target recognition, etc., formed intelligent functions such as mineral composition identification, pore structure analysis and rock structure analysis, and initially created a clastic rock flake intelligent identification 1.0 system, achieving zero technological breakthroughs in the industry. This technology solves the traditional appraisal facing the shortage of appraisal experts, the appraisal results are not accurate and quantified, the appraisal efficiency and other problems, the project not only has a strong practical value in the oil and gas industry, but also can be replicated and applied in other related industries such as geology and minerals, with a very broad promotion prospects.
The research and development of the project has been strongly supported by the Ministry of Petroleum Science and Technology Management of China, relying on the advanced reserve fund of the directly subordinate institutes, through completely independent research and development, to achieve "small projects, big breakthroughs". This award is the first time that PetroChina has won the first prize in the Yixing Competition, achieving a historic breakthrough, highlighting the ability and strength of independent innovation and independent research and development of the Exploration Institute, and is also a new shoot in the journey of PetroChina's accelerated intelligent development and promoting high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement.
