On the evening of October 27, the large-scale original dance drama "Zhang Qian", organized by the Propaganda Department of the Autonomous Regional Party Committee and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Region, premiered at the Grand Theater of the Urumqi Cultural Center.
The whole drama is divided into four acts: "Granting Festivals", "Keeping Festivals", "Passing Festivals" and "Envoys", which interprets Zhang Qian's "hollow journey" of his mission to the Western Regions, showing the vivid scenes of extensive exchanges, comprehensive exchanges and deep integration of various nationalities, and deeply praising the patriotic spirit and feelings of home and country.

"Zhang Qian's mission to the Western Regions is a rich and colorful stroke in the long history of the Chinese nation, and the dance drama "Zhang Qian" is based on historical stories." Xing Shimiao, one of the general directors of the play, said that the play began to set up projects, interviews, ideas, and creations in 2018, and the script was revised many times and completed the trial rehearsal at the end of July this year.
There is an impressive scene in the play: Zhang Qian is trying to move upward against the wind and sand, but he takes a step and slides, and the heaviness and difficulty of his steps are very real.
"In this scene, the stage used a conveyor belt. Dancers need to perform a variety of difficult dance moves on two 7-meter-long treadmills to show the hardships of Zhang Qian's westward journey. Yan Hongxia, executive director of the play, said that the organic integration of the mechanical stage with dance and performance, showing Zhang Qian's excellent character and firm belief in perseverance, loyalty, sincerity and faithfulness, is a major bright color of the play.
