The zhai buildings of Jiaju Tibetan Village are generally one household and one building, mostly sitting north and facing south, and the whole Tibetan village and its more than 100 zhaizhai buildings have unique characteristics and highlight a very distinct Jiarong Tibetan architectural style and cultural charm.
First, from the perspective of planning concept, Jiaju Tibetan Village is located in the position of the mountain, undulating up and down, the height of the walled building is staggered, and it is perfectly integrated with the surrounding natural environment, forming a local residential landscape settlement where people and nature coexist in harmony.
Between the lush mountains and forests, the white main tone and the large green background are cleverly matched, which not only creates a beautiful picture like a "fairy tale world", but also embodies the traditional concept of human settlement.
Second, from the overall layout point of view, the residential buildings of Jiaju Tibetan Village are basically along the contour line to expand the horizontal space layout, and their forms are closely combined with the terrain, stretching freely, and on the undulating terrain of the sunny gentle slope, choose a relatively flat terrace to build houses.
Most of the houses are formed in groups of 2 to 5 households, surrounded by farmland between the groups, interspersed with public roads and country lanes, and the buildings are built along the edge of the field, and do not occupy the mature land.
Third, from the perspective of building materials, the descendants of the Jiarong Tibetans naturally inherit the characteristics of Jiarong houses in architecture, mostly using local materials and using construction techniques passed down from generation to generation.
Until I really walked into the Tibetan villagers, I found that the walled buildings here cover an area of about 200 square meters, about 15 meters high, the shape is unique, most of them are three to five floors, the buildings are stone and wood structures, and the floors of each walled building have very clear functions.
Taking the five-storey walled building as an example, one house is a livestock pen, mainly used to feed yaks, horses, sheep, pigs, dogs and other livestock; the second floor is a place for the owner to live and rest, generally with a living room, bedroom, pot room, storage room.
The third floor is generally used as a prayer hall or a hall for receiving guests; the fourth floor is used to stack crops; the fifth floor is a place of "simmering mulberry", with a corner tower or a family watchtower, which is the place where the family holds ceremonies to worship the gods of heaven and earth.
There are multicolored prayer flags hanging in front of each walled building, patios and open-air large balconies on the second and third floors, and small towers are built on the top floor, and the wind horse flag is planted on the tower. Some of the cottages also have low walls, preserving the habit of ancient ancestors to live in the "vault".
In terms of color and decoration, the wooden frame parts and eaves of the walled building are red. The exterior walls of the house are mostly striped with white, brown and black circles, and painted with sun, moon, stars and religious motifs, showing a beautiful and neat appearance.
This practice of using a large number of original materials and technologies on the one hand completely preserves the basic characteristics of Jiarong houses, so that although the entire Tibetan village has gone through thousands of years, it still maintains a traditional and simple style; on the other hand, it can also pass on the architectural culture and style of the Jiarong Tibetans.
The vicissitudes of time, the passage of time, the buildings of the Village of Jiaju Tibetan Village, the overall look is still as beautiful as ever, like a Buddhist sitting cross-legged and sitting precariously, the serene posture when chanting the sutra, people can't bear to be disturbed.
