In this work, the young Heathcliff is met by Mr. Enshaw, the squire of Wuthering Heights, while wandering the streets, and brings him back to the cottage out of sympathy. Since then, under the love of Mr. Enshaw, under the abuse of Mr. Unshaw's biological son Hendry Unshaw, and Mr. Unshaw's daughter Catherine Enshaw, he has gradually developed a love. In this context, after Mr. Enshaw's death, when he learned that Catherine was going to marry Edgar Linton of Thrush Hill, Heathcliff left Wuthering Heights and disappeared without a trace. Three years later, when he returned as a handsome adult, he unleashed a frenzied revenge. By gambling, he took Wuthering Heights for himself, and took Holdley's son Haridon, who lived in his own manor and willingly became Heathcliff's servant. On the other hand, he married Isabella Lindun, the sister of Catherine's husband Edgar Lindun, and then carried out all kinds of abuse, just to get the family property of Thrush Hill. His beloved Catherine, who was only seven months pregnant, eventually died in Heathcliff's arms. Thus he launched an even more frantic revenge. When Hendry's son Harrington, Catherine's daughter Catherine Jr., and his son Linton Jr. came of age, he designed for Catherine Jr. to marry his dying son, Little Linton. Soon after their marriage, Little Linton died. And he blatantly seized the property of Thrush Hill. Having all this, he didn't feel much joy. Because the person he loves most is no longer in this world. When he learns that lockwood, the tenant, is staying in Catherine's room, and dreams that Catherine's ghost is coming into the room, Heathcliff looks forward to being reunited with Catherine's soul. He quietly excavated Catherine's tomb in preparation for being buried with Catherine after death. After three or four days of hunger strike, he eventually died in Catherine's room. It ended his painful life. At the end of the novel, little Catherine helps Harlem Harring Halliton learn knowledge and find himself, so that the two are happily united and have Wuthering Heights and Thrush Hill that should have belonged to them.
The protagonist of the novel, Heathcliff, is a tragic character. His family history is not written in the novel, but while wandering around, he is accidentally met by Mr. Enshaw and brought back to the manor to raise him. When he learns that Catherine is going to marry Lyndon, he chooses to avoid his feelings. When he truly confessed to Catherine, Catherine died in his arms. When he took revenge on everyone and got all the possessions he wanted, he found that there was no point in living in the world. Eventually, he followed In Catherine's footsteps with death and relieved himself of his pain. While reading the novel, while hating the dark side of his personality, he was also touched by his deep infatuation with Catherine. What a persistent and affectionate person he was, but when he was young, he did not have a good understanding of his feelings, and he did not know how to deal with these things correctly, and chose to escape. When he returns, he still uses various wrong methods to deal with various relationships, causing things to get worse and worse, and he loses his love. Such a vicious and evil person can't escape a love word in the end. But sometimes I also think that if I really love once in my life, it is also a kind of luck for the protagonist.
Such a complex storyline, almost entirely narrated by the tenant Lockwood and the family's former servant Nellie, highlights the ingenuity of the author's approach to writing. In addition, among the characters in the story, Catherine Jr. first married her cousin Lindun, and eventually with her cousin Halleton. He reminds me of Dream of the Red Chamber. Baoyu and his cousin Lin Daiyu fell in love, but eventually became intimate with his cousin Xue Baochao. Marriages between close relatives are very popular in ancient and modern China and abroad. Listening to mythological stories these days, the created Nuwa and Fuxi are actually a pair of brothers and sisters, and this relative is even closer. From ancient times to the present, from far to near, you can silently feel the continuous development of human beings, but people's attitude towards feelings will not change, which is also a charm of being a human being.
When reading the novel, due to some black print illustrations in the middle, coupled with the tragic color of the storyline. For the first two days, I seemed to see Catherine's ghost returning to the house on a thunderstorm night, or the solemn manor suddenly appearing in lightning. Although I feel scared in my heart, I think it is also the greatness of this work. Only when the portrayal of the storyline of the work is unconsciously deepened into the reader's heart, the real plot that appears in the movie will emerge.
