After being recommended and praised by countless people, I finally finished reading the "Four Precepts of Fan", and how to feel after reading it was not as good as I thought.
At this time, someone may say: That is because you are not in a sufficient realm, you have not really understood the great wisdom in the book, this is a classic that can change your life, what qualifications do you have to evaluate the classics? I sincerely hope that's the case, but it still doesn't arouse enough respect for this book.

Although there are only a few principles for teaching people to be simple, and the "Four Precepts of Fan Fan" is quite specific, and I also very much agree with the 4 kinds of self-cultivation and life-building standards in the book, but this way of educating people is really difficult for me to accept. The routine of the whole book is basically to first say a big truth, and then tell a few small stories, proving that doing good deeds can be a middle-aged soldier, and doing good deeds can be a big official, which is also too utilitarian, right? The overall realm is not high.
Speaking of this book, why is it called "The Four Precepts of The Mortals"? Because the author of this book is named Yuan Yifan (although it is also a later name), the book talks about the four aspects of the study of life, the method of reform, the formula of accumulation of goodness, and the effect of humility, so it is called "the four precepts of All".
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="14" > Chapter 1 The Science of Destiny</h1>
When Mr. Fan was young, he met a fortune teller, deduced the fate of his life and fulfilled it one by one, so he obeyed the mandate of heaven and did not make unnecessary efforts, and later met a high person, saying that my fate is up to me, and people's fate can be changed. How to change it, is through doing good deeds. By continuing to do good deeds, Mr. Fan's fate was indeed inconsistent with the fortune teller's prediction, changing the fate of not being able to be a high official and childless.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="13" > Chapter 2 The Method of Change</h1>
If a person is at fault, he will bring misfortune, so he must correct his own mistakes. The method of reform must have three hearts: shame, fear, and courage. The methods that have been changed are from the things themselves, such as killing before and now not killing; there are changes from reason, the heavens have the virtue of good life, all life has the instinct to survive, so they should not kill; and from the heart to change, realize that all things have animism, all living things are equal, respect all things from the bottom of their hearts, and see meat will produce disgust and be difficult to swallow. Therefore, it is the most fundamental and thorough change in mentality.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="12" > Chapter 3 The Party of Accumulation of Good</h1>
This chapter focuses on the fact that good deeds have good rewards, and 10 short stories are used to prove that if you do good deeds, you can become a great official and a descendant of Fuyin. Then, he analyzed the different motivations and mentalities of doing good deeds, which were divided into true and false, duanqu, yin and yang, right and wrong, partial positive, half full, size, and difficulty. Finally, ten kinds of good deeds are listed: being kind to others, loving and respecting the heart, the beauty of adulthood, persuading others to be kind, saving people in danger, building great profits, sacrificing wealth and blessings, upholding the Dhamma, respecting the elders, and cherishing material life. When everything is pursued to a whole number, there is a suspicion of making up a number.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="11" > Chapter 4 The Effect of Humility</h1>
The last chapter talks about being humble. The opening chapter is a series of six or seven inspirational stories that have won the meritorious name through modesty, and in order to warn future generations, they have added people who could have passed the exam, but accidentally fell off the list because of immodesty and misbehaving. All the pursuit of the whole book is fame and wealth, and in today's view, it is really not high. Probably the success of the past and the present has been like this.
Although the pursuit of the book is not good, there are still some famous sayings and aphorisms, and a few sentences are copied:
Once upon a time, such as dying yesterday; From the latter, such as today's birth.
Destiny stands on its own, and blessed itself.
Good is not accumulated, not enough to become famous; evil is not accumulated, not enough to destroy the body.
The filthy people of the earth are many creatures, and the clear people of the water are often without fish.
