
Ten years ago, the "boy crisis" that caused widespread discussion in society gave birth to the country's first high school "boys' class" to take root in Shanghai. As an attempt to explore the education of boys, in 2012, Shanghai No. 8 Middle School first set up the "Shanghai Boys' High School Base Experimental Class" and resolutely opened the "Boys' Class" experiment. In the past decade, how effective has the experiment of the "boys' class" been? Can there be more replicable and beneficial explorations for boys' education?
On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the founding of the school, the monograph "Witnessing Boys", which integrates ten years of practical experience in boys' education, was first published this morning at the Eighth Middle School of the city. This new work of nearly 200,000 words not only systematically sorts out the curriculum system and education mode of the Eighth Middle School in the city in recent years for the "boys' class", but also shares the experience of boys' education formed over the years with everyone. At the scene of the event, the renovated History Museum of the Eighth Middle School of the City was unveiled at the same time.
From the beginning of two classes per grade, and then to nearly 70% of the boys in the school, after nearly ten years of development, the research on boys' education in the eighth middle school in the city is now more in-depth, and the carrier of education is also broader and higher. On the basis of promoting its all-round development, the school pays more attention to the discovery of students' personality and the stimulation of innovative potential, focuses on the cultivation and improvement of the four qualities of "loyalty, responsibility, independence and wisdom" of "Zhicheng" boys, and further rooted in the feelings of home and country and the expectation of social role competence.
"Ten years of Tuobao, changes are visible! Through the follow-up survey of a large sample, we found that the children of the 'boys' class not only steadily improved their academic performance and strong social activity ability, but also developed the habit of learning and thinking and the conduct of noble righteousness in rich experience. Based on this, we can be more firm in our practical research direction, confident in the value of our research promotion, and insist on developing more courses that meet the excellent development of boys. While witnessing the growth of boys, we also witnessed the common growth of teachers and schools! At the launch ceremony, Principal Zhou Zheng introduced many points of "Witness Boys".
In addition to releasing the results of the ten years of tempering of the "Boys' Class", this week, the City No. 8 Middle School also carried out a teaching seminar activity with the theme of "Innovation and Practice , Visible Changes", welcoming the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the school. Focusing on the four major themes of teaching design and classroom practice under the background of "double new", paying attention to subject literacy, improving teaching effectiveness, comparative research on heterogeneous teaching of the same class between "boys' classes" and mixed "parallel classes" of male and female students, wisdom creation, and development of excellence, in four days, the school has successively opened 16 display classes, showing the exploration and phased results made by the eight people in the city under the guidance of "Zhicheng" culture under the guidance of "Zhicheng" culture.
