"Nanjing Yunjin and Silk Weaving Industry Oral Archives"

The project began in the summer of 2019, and Guan Jing was commissioned by the Nanjing Municipal Archives Bureau and the Nanjing Jiangnan Silk Culture Museum to start the planning and compilation of the book.

Nanjing Yunjin is known as "inch of gold", is one of the typical and high-standard handicraft representatives of Nanjing and even China, and is also a member of the world's intangible cultural heritage, which has great cultural and historical significance. "Nanjing Yunjin" is a relatively unfamiliar thing for students who have just met. The first work that the students were exposed to was to extract accurate and useful relevant information from the interviewee's recordings, and the interviewees had more professional terms in their oral statements and the work content was relatively cumbersome, which also made it difficult for the students to advance their work. Guan Jing took everyone to understand the classification, characteristics, weaving principles and stories behind Yunjin in a timely manner, and helped the students to understand the development process and connotation of "Nanjing Yunjin" and the significance of this project at a deeper level.

At this point, the historical picture of "Nanjing Yunjin" slowly unfolded in front of the students' eyes.

After gradually becoming familiar with the knowledge and background of "Nanjing Yunjin", the students began to work in more stages: determining the interview object, drafting the interview outline, interviewing relevant practitioners, and sorting out the interview records... After coming into contact with more Nanjing Yunjin inheritors and the older generation of industry technology and management personnel, the students were gradually infected by their simplicity and sincerity of Nanjing silk weaving industry.

One of the experiences that impressed the students was an interview with Nanjing Yunjin master Guo Jun. "Slender figure, shoulder-length white hair, 'Xianfeng Dao bone'" is Zhu Guangyao's first reflection of Guo Lao. The old man who "brought his own immortality" told the story of the experience from rubbing shoulders with the professional art academy, to leaving the Yunjin Research Institute because of financial problems, and then participating in the World Expo in Milan, Italy with the Nanjing Yunjin Ultimate Essence Pavilion... Between the rounds, Guo Jun has always maintained a heart of awe, with a persistent love for "Nanjing Yunjin" and a sense of mission to inherit.

"In the fast-paced life of modern times, it is not easy to maintain the love and persistence of China's intangible cultural heritage. Fortunately, there are people like Teacher Guan who are actually involved in the intangible cultural heritage project, and organize such a team, so that we can use paper and pencil to pour out our heartfelt feelings about the excellent traditional culture and understand the past years of Yunjin and Nanjing Silk Weaving. Shen Hui sighed.

The four graduate students interviewed Guo Jun and took a group photo

The team used the spare time to complete the oral recording of Guo Jun, Yu Chunlan and other teachers, and cooperated with Teacher Guan Jing and Xiao Yanna to complete the compilation and compilation of interview texts for dozens of relevant practitioners of the older generation, such as Yu Zhengzhi, Wang Daohui, Wu Xier, Xu Fengmei, Yu Yongchen, Zhou Shuangxi, etc. After nearly 2 years, the book "Nanjing Yunjin and Silk Weaving Industry Oral Archives" was recently released, and through the oral accounts of witnesses and witnesses of modern "Nanjing Yunjin", this historical story is more vividly presented to the public.

"I am very fortunate to have such a valuable experience, and I know it and I know why it is so." Thanks to every craftsman who wrote the Yunjin Jin Book, and also to every artist and scholar who helped Yunjin 'resurrect', I hope that the story of Yunjin can be passed on from generation to generation and will last forever. Zhu Guangyao said when talking about the experience of this writing work.
