In today's increasingly rare seafood, Haihong can basically be regarded as the cheapest seafood in Jiaodong area, and compared with more than twenty years ago, its price has basically not risen much, in the large set of Jiaodong, 10 yuan can buy six or seven pounds, once you buy 5 yuan, you can have a pot, enough for the whole family to eat.

Spend five dollars to buy a rainbow
Haihong, also written as Haihong, is the name of Jiaodong, officially known as mussel, and also known as Qingkou in the south. The price of Haihong in Jiaodong is extremely cheap, mainly for two reasons:
First, in the 1960s and 1970s, because of the need to earn foreign exchange through exports, the government vigorously encouraged coastal fishermen to cultivate Haihong, which has a wide and large area of haihong aquaculture, and has a large area of aquaculture in yantai and Weihai coastal counties and cities, especially in Rushan City in Weihai and Haiyang City in Yantai, haihong has the largest yield and better quality. At that time, in order to encourage fishermen to cultivate haihong, the town and village cadres publicized to the fishermen that the nutritional value of two haihongs could stand up to an egg, which should have an exaggerated component.
Second, the cost of rainbow breeding is low, no artificial seedlings are needed, and there is no need to feed, just set up a solid shelf along the coast, and then arrange the large rubber rods for haihong culture at appropriate spacing, commonly known as the rainbow stick, and the wild seedlings of the rainbow will automatically attach to it, and gradually produce naturally. The main input of rainbow culture is the material cost, which is much lower than that of fish, shrimp and oyster farming.
But in many places outside Jiaodong, Haihong is a very precious ingredient, such as Haihong occupies an important position in French cuisine, the price is not cheap, of course, French dishes will not be called Haihong, they are called mussels (English: mussel, French: moule), if it is called Haihong, it will certainly not sell for a price.
In many areas in the south, the sea rainbow is also more precious, and the southern region generally calls the sea rainbow Qingkou. A friend of mine in Yantai went to the south on a business trip, and in the evening the local boss made an east treat, drank three rounds, and after the five flavors of the dish, he very grandly put on a soup made of green mouth. After tasting, the southern boss asked my friend without showing off: "You can also eat this in yantai, right?" My friend replied, "I can eat it too, but I don't eat it very often." Friends say that it is also true, Haihong is too ordinary and cheap in Jiaodong, ordinary people still eat more, and rich people eat several times a year.
In my hometown of Rushan County, the director of one factory once held a meeting for the whole factory staff, at which in order to stimulate the enthusiasm of the staff and improve the efficiency of the enterprise, he said to everyone: "You look at a certain factory, the garbage bins in the family area are all shrimp shells, and then look at the garbage bins in the family area of our factory, and all the rainbow shells are poured." That is to say, at that time, the family economic conditions were good, eating fish and shrimp, and the family economic conditions were not good, so they could only buy more cheap haihong and go home to fight tooth sacrifices.
In the 1990s, large-scale shrimp farming in the coastal areas of Jiaodong, because the price of haihong was cheap and the output was large, at that time many farms bought haihong in large quantities, crushed it and used it as bait to feed shrimp.
In addition to being fresh to eat, Haihong can also be steamed or cooked, the meat is peeled off the shell, dried into dry goods, dried dry goods are called mussels, in the 60s and 70s have been exported a large number of foreign countries, in exchange for foreign exchange, it can be said that it has made outstanding contributions to the country. To this day, Haihong is still an important economic property in the coastal area of Jiaodong.
