On 25 December, legendary Paraguayan goalkeeper Chiravit announced his candidacy for president of Paraguay with the slogan "Proud to be a Paraguayan".
Chilawite, currently 55, is one of the goalkeepers with the most goals in history, scoring 67 goals in his career and 8 in 74 appearances with the national team.
Chilawite, who retired in 2004, said he wanted to eradicate poverty and corruption in Paraguay and decided to run in the 2023 Paraguayan presidential elections.
