In fact, the "sea cockroach" is real! However, this "sea cockroach" is not a sea cockroach, and the "sea cockroach" in the TV series can only be said to be a hypothetical creature created based on the actual sea cockroach.
So what kind of creature is the sea cockroach in reality?
Sea cockroaches, as the name suggests, is "cockroaches in the sea", I remember playing on the beach a few years ago when I saw a group of sea cockroaches on the stone, at that time I didn't know what kind of creature it was, I felt like a cockroach, but I lived in the sea, so I searched for "sea cockroaches", hey! It's called this one! But in fact, the sea cockroach just looks like a cockroach, and the relationship with the cockroach is far worse!
The sea cockroach belongs to the arthropod phylum Crustacean subphylum Pseudomonae pseudocephalus Cysperaceae, the suborder Cystaceae, and the cockroach belongs to the arthropod phylum Hexapod subphylum insect family, the two are different from the subphylum (humans and carp are also different from the subphylum, which may help to understand), so their relationship is far worse. In contrast, sea cockroaches and the rat woman we are familiar with belong to the same suborder of tidal insects, and even the famous king haspods.

Sea cockroaches are semi-terrestrial species, most of which inhabit rock crevices in climatic zone areas and are important members of intertidal ecosystems, with only a few species living near mountain streams (e.g., Taiwan sea cockroaches living near streams in inland montane forests). There are about 40 species of sea cockroaches in the world, mainly the strange sea cockroaches common in China and the Taiwan sea cockroach distributed in Taiwan, China.
The sea cockroach is about 2-3.6 cm long, the male is larger than the female, the body color is black brown or yellowish brown, the body is flat and oval, divided into three parts: head, chest and abdomen, and there is no obvious cephalothorax. The outside of the body is covered with a keratinized exoskeleton that molts periodically. Bone pieces are interconnected through the articular membrane and move flexibly, while preventing dryness and resistance to predators.
The mouth organ includes 1 pair of large jaws, 2 pairs of small jaws and 1 pair of jaw feet, the chest is divided into 7 segments, there are 7 pairs of chest limbs, also known as walking feet, for single-branched, used for exercise, predation, swimming, of which the 6th and 7th pairs of chest limbs are important organs for water absorption. Female individuals have oocysts on the ventral surface of their breasts, which consist of five pairs of brooding plates. After fertilization, mature females store their eggs in the brooding sac until the larvae mature and are excreted.
The abdomen is divided into 6 segments, the first 5 segments have 5 pairs of leaf-like abdominal limbs, which are double-branched and used for breathing. The terminal segment, also known as the tail segment (that is, the two long ones at the end), has a pair of tail limbs, and its end is divided into outer limbs and inner limbs. The male appendages on the inside of the male's second abdominal limb are specialized into genitals, playing an important role in mating insemination and reproductive isolation.
Interestingly, the molting process of the sea cockroach is different from most arthropods, and its molting process is divided into two stages, first molting the back half of the body, and then molting the front half of the body at intervals of a few days, and the middle interval can only be walked with the front chest limbs.
Although the relationship between the sea cockroach and its "cousin" cockroach is far worse, the two still have some commonalities, such as living in dirty and narrow places, and both like to eat human things: cockroaches eat food or garbage in human homes, sea cockroaches like to eat economic algae such as seaweed and algae, and there is: all! Yes! do! medicine! And in addition to the traditional folk method of taking drugs, there are drugs made by modern pharmaceutical methods. Modern researchers have shown that sea cockroach extract has a significant inhibitory effect on many kinds of cancer cells (human cervical cancer cells, human gastric cancer cells, human non-large cell lung cancer cells), and may be able to develop and produce anti-cancer drugs in the future.
