Today, with great reverence, I came to visit the former residence of the founding general Chen Mingren to commemorate the great deeds of the revolutionaries of the old generation.
The former residence of General Chen Mingren is located at No. 30, Xinghua Road, Chikan District (Old Street) of Zhanjiang City. The former residence of General Chen Mingren covers an area of 1420 square meters, with a construction area of 1110 square meters, divided into two two two-storey small Western-style buildings of No. 1 and No. 2, the building is a brick-concrete structure, looking down on the plane shape like two airplanes, so the local old neighborhood is also called "Aircraft Building", these two buildings were built in the 1930s, although after more than a hundred years of wind and rain baptism, but still maintain their characteristics. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Chen Mingren was awarded the rank of general and the Liberation Medal of the First Class, and was ordered to stay in Zhanjiang for 16 years, and in the 1950s, General Chen Mingren lived in Building 2 of his former residence. During his stationing in Zhanjiang, General Chen Mingren managed the army well, offered ideas and suggestions for China's national defense construction, actively participated in socialist construction, and worked with the broad masses of the People of Zhanjiang to plant trees, build canals, and build reservoirs, thus making important contributions to the construction of Zhanjiang.
At present, after maintenance, the former residence of General Chen Mingren has been named "General Chen Mingren Memorial Hall", "General Chen Mingren Exhibition Hall" and "Zhanjiang Patriotic Education Base" by Zhanjiang City, and the former residence of General Chen Mingren was officially opened to the public free of charge on April 10, 2014.
I have visited the former residence of General Chen Mingren many times, received education in red genes, carried forward the revolutionary spirit of the old revolutionaries, never forgot my original intention, always remembered history, and always remembered them.
