After breakfast the next day, we set off early in the morning for the Longmen Grottoes.
The Longmen Grottoes were first chiseled during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, flourished in the Tang Dynasty, and finally ended in the late Qing Dynasty. It has been excavated for more than 1400 years in more than 10 dynasties, making it the longest excavated grotto in the world. On the way, the children were told a legend about the Longmen Grottoes.
A long time ago, there was a large lake in the south of Luoyang, surrounded by green mountains and a beautiful environment. People graze their cattle in the mountains and fish in the lakes. There was a hard-working child in the village, who went to the mountains every day to herd sheep, and often heard a strange sound of "opening" from the ground, and when he returned home, he told his mother about it. The mother thought about it and told him that if she heard it again, she would answer, "On!" Who knew that in response, the world collapsed, the Longmen Mountain fell apart from the middle, and the raging lake water poured out of the crack and flowed thousands of miles to the East China Sea. After the water flowed, countless clear springs burst out from the cliffs. On the cliffs of the two mountains, there were countless honeycomb-like caves, and the shadows inside the caves were all stone statues, some with clear eyebrows, some with unclear silhouettes, and they were all spectacles. Since then, the Longmen Grottoes have become famous all over the world. Of course, this is only a legend, and it also reflects the difficulty of the longmen grottoes and the magnificence of the scene.
The road from Yiyang to Longmen Grottoes is still quite smooth, there is no urban area, no traffic jam. I said to my wife, look, or I am wise, urge you to go early, go early, there are fewer people and fewer cars, and the road is smoother. But I was still too young, less than 5 kilometers from the Longmen Grottoes began to get stuck in traffic, and the map was red all the way.

The car was parked, and there was no place to buy tickets everywhere, so I asked the on-site staff and said that I had to take a work car, less than 5 kilometers. Daughter-in-law said, we don't take the car, out is a tourist, not a car, you can see the scenery on the road, I know, the daughter-in-law wants to save money, a good daughter-in-law [like] [like].
Coming out of the parking lot and going up against the Yi River, you can faintly see several teams of ospreys swimming together in the Yi River, not knowing how they have harvested today. After walking nearly 3 kilometers, we arrived at the "Dragon Gate" Bridge, which is the place where the legendary carp jumped the Dragon Gate. The Longmen Grottoes can be seen directly on the bridge, and the cliff walls are densely distributed with grottoes, and I was instantly shocked by this scene, what kind of skilled craftsmen can complete it. The Longmen Grottoes are backed by the West Mountain and face the Yi River, which is also a treasure of feng shui in architectural feng shui. After crossing the "Longmen" bridge, the road encounters the Longmen base for cultural heritage protection, take a closer look, good guy, a large stone carved Buddha statue stands in it, it should not have been moved from the Longmen Grottoes.
To the gate of the Longmen Grottoes, you can buy tickets online and scan the code to enter the door, which is very convenient. Of course, it is foreseeable that the scenic spot is definitely crowded with people, the Longmen Grottoes are Buddhist holy places, and so many people are crowded in on holidays, whether it is necessary to stage the "Dragon Gate Inn", it is certainly very unfavorable for the protection of cultural relics. It is still recommended that the relevant units, for the Longmen National Treasure-level Grottoes, still limit the number of tourists, mainly for protection.
After the gate enters, it is greeted by 9 rows of large red lanterns, which directly lead tourists to the "Dragon Gate", which is very festive. After passing through the "Dragon Gate", you can see the grotto. Looking at the grotto, I had to go up the cliff steps, and my daughter-in-law and I took a child alone, and followed the crowd to climb up with difficulty. It is not at all where we want to go, but where the flow of people goes, I followed where I went, went up the first step, it was hard to squeeze into a grotto to see, and then want to go to other places, see the flow of people, it is too difficult, and the daughter-in-law said, let's look at it below, find a gap and go down.
Continue to walk forward, almost to the end of the grotto, and finally see the place where there are few people, you can climb up to take a good look at the grotto. Above you can see a variety of Buddha statues, of different shapes and sizes, some as high as several meters, some less than three centimeters high. The most amazing thing is that there are many grottoes in the middle of a large Buddha statue, the surrounding walls are carved with small Buddha statues, the number of small Buddha statues is simply uncountable, although the Buddha statues are small, but the carving is still not sloppy, you can still see the serious and solemn look, but the wonderful portrait, see this, really have to admire the ancients' sincere faith in Buddhism and skillful skills, are worth learning.
Out of the grotto, cross a bridge, you can look at the Longmen Grottoes across the Yi River, the grotto panorama is in full view, plus the rushing Yi River, majestic, shocking the soul. To the east of the Yi River, there are also scenic spots such as the Dongshan Grottoes, the Kanjing Temple, and the Xiangshan Temple, but it is already noon, and the adults and children are hungry and have not visited again.
