On the afternoon of October 28, the North Bund gathered with high friends. The 2021 World Urban Culture Forum (Shanghai) with the theme of "Digital Transformation and Comprehensive enhancement of urban soft power" kicked off at the Shanghai Tower.
More than 100 experts, scholars, government officials and industry representatives from China, Germany, Canada, Italy, Egypt, Croatia, Argentina, Japan, South Korea and other countries exchanged views on a series of topics such as "New Trends in Cultural Exchange and Dissemination in World Cities in the Post-epidemic Era", "Development Vision and Regional Practice of Shanghai as a Global City", and "Building a New Benchmark for Modern Urban Development in the North Bund".

In the face of unprecedented changes in a century, soft power has increasingly become an important symbol of a city's comprehensive strength, and culture is the soul of the city and the root of the city's soft power. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the overall value function of cultural construction will be integrated into all levels of economic and social development, and digital transformation has become an important issue for urban cultural development in the new era.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, the "Urban Cultural Innovation Research Institute" jointly established by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Hongkou District was officially unveiled and held a certification ceremony, and a group of well-known figures from the academic and industry were specially invited as researchers. The academic research series of the Institute of Literature of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the first launch and book donation ceremony of the think tank of the Urban Cultural Innovation Research Institute were held at the same time.
In the keynote speech session that followed, He Jianhua, former vice president and researcher of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, took China's urbanization process as the starting point to introduce the digital transformation of cities and comprehensively enhance the soft power of cities. Shanghai: A City where Chinese Culture and International Culture Converge
Few cities have radiated their influence to the world as much as Shanghai, as few cities have been and will continue to be, the intersection of Chinese and international cultures. Born in Shanghai 400 years ago, Xu Guangqi was one of the first Chinese to help bring Western technology and culture to China. One of the reasons why the Chinese Communist Party held its first congress in Shanghai 100 years ago may be because Shanghai was first printed in Chinese by two Germans.
