On September 27, 1955, Ai Wei (Ai Lao), a generation of education people, passed away from us forever due to illness. Ai Wei (Ai Lao) is a famous psychologist in modern China. He made outstanding contributions to the study of educational psychology. Representative works include "Advanced Statistics", "Primary Statistics", "Primary Educational Psychology", "Teacher Education Psychology", "Educational Psychology" and so on.

On August 12, 1890, Ai Wei (Ai Lao) was born in Shashi, Hubei Province. He graduated from St. John's University in Shanghai in 1919. In 1921, he went to the United States to study, and received a master's degree in psychology from Columbia University and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Washington. In 1925, he returned to China and was hired as a professor of psychology at Nanjing National Southeast University, engaged in secondary school psychology research, especially Chinese language research. In 1927, he became the head of the Department of Education at Chuo University. In 1932 he became a statistical researcher at the University of London. In 1934, he and his wife Fan Bingxin founded the Wanqing Experimental School in their apartment in Nanjing. In 1938, he founded the Institute of Educational Psychology and became its director. It also recruits master's degree students in educational psychology for the first time in China. He was appointed professor by the Ministry of Education in 1941. In 1946, he participated in the International Conference on New Education in Australia and lectured in Australia for half a year. After 1947, he was invited by Beijing Normal University and the Research Institute of Sun Yat-sen University to give lectures at various universities. Ai Wei died on September 27, 1955.
