Knowing that you don't need anything, maybe it's more important- Commenting on "The Sword of the Third Young Master"

author:Historical lens

As a martial arts fan for more than ten years, I admit that I have never read a work like "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" before

"The Sword of the Third Young Master" gives me a very different feeling from other martial arts novels, and he is a martial arts novel that "comes in reverse" as a whole

What is "coming backwards"?

That is to say, his creative ideas, creative styles, and plots are different from traditional martial arts novels

First, the original intention of the creation of "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" was anti-traditional

In general martial arts novels, most of the routines created are revenge, treasure hunting, martial arts upgrading, various adventures, and finally become a master to embrace the beauty

But "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is unusual, and Gu Long said in the preface of the book that he wanted to describe the real jianghu people, write about their happiness, but also write about their pain

Let's ask, when we read martial arts and online texts, do we think that the characters in the book will also be miserable, and will also worry about their livelihood?

According to Gu Long's words, "In the middle of the night, I woke up from a drunken state and suddenly found that lying next to me was a person whose name he did not even know." ”

Gu Long wants to describe such a kind of hero, they are more like mortals than gods and demons, Gu Long calls this kind of flesh and blood hero a Jianghu person, he said he wants to write a series of stories, mainly describing the heart, emotional changes and daily life of Jianghu people

From this point of view, "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is higher than the general martial arts novel, because the characters and stories he describes are born out of real life, and are higher than real life, rather than the product of closed doors

Second, the creative style of "The Sword of the Third Young Master" is anti-traditional

"Style anti-traditional" refers to the very different style from other novelists

General martial arts novels, such as Jin Yong, Liang Yusheng, etc., are very grand in the layout of the plot, generally using the routine of changing scenery (commonly known as fighting monsters and upgrading), describing the growth experience of the protagonist, during which the protagonist from naivety to maturity, interacting with many friends and enemies, experiencing an unforgettable love, and finally defeating the big boss Dashing away from these modules, it can be said that their novel is like a pot of boiling water, the more it burns, the higher the temperature, and finally reaches the highest point of dramatic conflict - Duel with the big boss and win

But Gu Long's novel is not like this

"The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is a late work of Gu Long, people who have not read this book will feel very unaccustomed to just picking it up, because several main characters are masters as soon as they appear, and the duels between them are not written in detail, most of them are scenes such as "a flash of cold light, the other party falls to the ground", which is in stark contrast to Jin Yong, Liang Yusheng and others who use a large number of pages to write martial arts scenes, which is also a sentence often said in the martial arts fan circle: Jin Yong is realistic, Gu Long is freehand, such as this paragraph:

Yan Thirteen said, "My sword is already in my hand and can be pulled out at any time, what about you?" ”

Murong Qiudi said, "This is my sword." ”

Yan Thirteen said, "This is not." ”

Murong Qiudi said, "In my hands, this is a weapon for killing people." ”

Yan Thirteen said, "I know you can use it to kill people, but it is only a dead branch in itself." ”

Murong Qiudi said, "As long as you can kill people, what is the difference between a dead branch and a sword?" ”

Yan Thirteen said, "Yes." ”

Murong Qiudi said, "You say." ”

Yan Thirteen said, "It can kill people, but it hasn't killed people, but my sword is different." ”

He caressed his sword, "This sword has been with me for nineteen years, and sixty-three people have died under this sword. ”

Murong Qiudi said, "I know that you have killed many people. ”

Yan Thirteen said, "This was originally just a very ordinary sword, but now it has drunk the blood of sixty-three people, sixty-three ruthless killers, and sixty-three powerful ghosts." ——" The First Famous Sword

This dialogue is a typical Cologne style, characterized by concise language, strong sense of picture and distinct characters, using very little language to convey a lot of information, which is in stark contrast to the detailed and realistic style of Jin Yong's novels

But after reading through the whole book, we will find that "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is indeed different from traditional martial arts, but it does not meet Gu Long's own expectations, and he seems to be very innovative when comparing with other writers, but there is not much breakthrough for his other works - he is caught in the trap of seeking a breakthrough and cannot

Why is that? Let's talk about the reasons for this by simply analyzing the plot

Third, the plot setting of "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is anti-traditional

As mentioned earlier, "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is a work that Gu Long wants to ask for a new change and a breakthrough, if you have read Gu Long's other works, after reading this novel, you will definitely say: This work does not have much breakthrough

Why?

Because in terms of intention, this book is contrary to the ideas of most readers

The plot of "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is very simple, telling the story of an assassin with high sword skills, Yan Thirteen, who wants to challenge Xie Xiaofeng, the world's first swordsman

Who is Xie Xiaofeng?

He is a great hero, famous all over the world, five years old to learn swords, six years old can decompose the sword spectrum, at the age of ten he defeated the first swordsman of the Huashan Sect;

He was a genius, seven years old familiar with Tang poetry and Song Ci, astronomical geography omniscient, if you enter the shi must be a great official;

But he was miserable—

His fame is too great, he has to socialize with those who come to him every day, and he always faces the challenges of various swordsmen

That is to say, since many years ago, what he had to do every day was to stay at home and wait for someone else to come to kill him, and then he could get rid of the big burden of "the world's first swordsman"

"Waiting for others to come to the door to defeat themselves" is a very magical setting, there is no such protagonist in Jin Yong's novel, nor in Gu Long's other novels, except Xie Xiaofeng, who is set to look like this, which is far from the "hero" in the hearts of ordinary readers

And this is not enough, what is even more amazing is that in order to avoid the pressure brought by fame, Xie Xiaofeng fled to a small restaurant in the jianghu, alias Aji, and became a buddy!

The people in the restaurant called him useless Aji, gave him a steamed bun stained with dung, and he was beaten by a few little...

This is the second magical place - a hero who feels distressed as his "hero" and runs to the rivers and lakes to travel, other martial arts novels, which hero is not full of enthusiasm to report the name, and then wait for the other party to hold a fist and salute?

In the end, after experiencing many waves of torture, Xie Xiaofeng finally dared to face Yan Thirteen

After the competition, both of them were relieved - Yan Thirteen defeated Xie Xiaofeng to become the new number one in the world, and Xie Xiaofeng also cut off his thumbs of both hands, indicating that he would no longer use his sword and quit the martial forest

But can he really quit the martial arts and go into hiding?

No

Because people in the rivers and lakes can't help themselves

Xie Xiaofeng's experience is what Gu Long said in the preface to the book, "the pain of the jianghu people."

And one thing we must pay attention to: most readers do not like to see the painful experiences of others, and if the protagonist is constantly suffering and being beaten up, the book is doomed to not be too successful in business

In today's parlance – the book doesn't look good at all

And this is the biggest difference between Gu Long and other authors: his protagonists are not born to grow up with the reader, but to pin gu long's views or feelings

This is the meaning of "Jianghu people" - Xie Xiaofeng, the "Jianghu people", is a concrete expression of Gu Long's views and feelings

What's the point of view?

That is, the hero will also be painful, and the hero also has an unknown side

This is the point that Gu Long pointed out at the beginning of the book, and if you don't agree with this point of view, there is no need to read "The Sword of the Three Young Masters"

Fourth, simple evaluation

"The Sword of the Three Young Masters" is a work that Gu Long strives for transformation, but ultimately can't ask for it, so that it ends hastily. This work and "Earth Flying Eagle" the same, the words between the lines are full of middle-aged people's fatigue and tiredness, after reading the biggest feeling is a little depressed in the entanglement, doubts with a little emotion, after reading the whole book I think this is an incredible strange book: the character setting is strange, the plot conflict is strange, the character point of view is strange, and the final ending is also very magical

"The Sword of the Three Young Masters" made me think about the definition of a hero:

The world is invincible, and surrounded by flowers and applause and wine is a hero;

The person under great pressure and carrying the burden of fame and fortune is the hero;

No one can communicate, and it is also a hero who can only endure the pain by himself

Or we can say that "The Sword of the Three Young Masters" superficially describes the life encounters of Xie Xiaofeng and Yan Thirteen, but in fact he is talking about a heavy topic of life - self-redemption
