On January 12, 1863, a family of lawyers at the High Court of Calcutta, India, gave birth to a baby boy named Narendra. He was intelligent from an early age, dabbling in philosophy, literature, the social sciences, and the natural sciences, and his spiritual world was a contradiction that could neither ignore spiritual aspirations nor eliminate scientific thinking. At that time, there was also a master living in Calcutta, named Ramakrishna. Ramakrishna, though illiterate but with extraordinary talent, had practiced all kinds of mysterious paths to God in just 12 years, declaring, "There are as many ways to God as there are religions." ”

At the first meeting, Narendra folded his hands together and asked the question he was obsessively pursuing: "Have you seen God with your own eyes, sir?" Ramakrishna said, "Yes, I see God as I see you, but with a stronger consciousness. I can talk to him as if I were talking to you. But who cares? People weep for their wives and children, for their wealth, but who will weep for God? Since then, Narendra has engaged in a six-year ideological struggle with his mentor Ramakrishna. He constantly challenged his mentor in ingenious ways, and Ramakrishna never lost once.

In 1886, Narendra went deep into meditation and entered the samadhi realm for three days. When he woke up, he was deeply shocked and wanted to devote himself to his exploration work. In the same year, Ramakrishna died. Narendra began to travel thousands of miles in India ascetically. One biographer wrote: "It's a great start, like a diver jumping into the Indian Ocean, and the ocean covers his trail." Like a floating object in the Indian Ocean, he was just one of a thousand nameless dervish monks in orange robes.

In 1892, he dreamed that Ramakrishna had crossed the sea and summoned him at the other end, saying, "Go! At the same time, he received a donation from a certain indian prince. So he boarded a ship from Mumbai and passed through Guangzhou, China and Japan, preaching the Indian Vedanta philosophy, which was highly valued by Western academic circles. In 1893, he attended the Conference of The World Religions in Chicago, USA, and Narendra was the last to speak. His charm, majesty, humor, and generosity captivated the audience, who applauded and cheered wildly.

He returned to China in 1897 and in the same year established the Ramakrishna Missionary Church in Calcutta, named after his teacher. In 1899, he founded the "School of Non-Duality" in the foothills of the Himalayas to promote and study the Indian Vedanta philosophy. He died on July 4, 1902, at the age of 39.

Among his students was a man named Goodwin, who was good at shorthand. He sketched down the contents of the nightly lectures and compiled them into four manuscripts, The Yoga of Wisdom: The Path to Inner Divinity Through Knowledge. The Yoga of the Holy King: The path to the realization of divinity through the control of the mind through activity. Devotional Yoga: The Path to Divinity through Devotion to God. Yoga of Action: The path to inner divinity through action and fulfillment of responsibility. "Yoga of Action", which makes The Debater one of the two people who proposed the philosophy of action in modern times, the other is the famous Karl Marx.

He gave the most authoritative interpretation of the Yoga Sutra. Through the explanation of yoga, we began to understand the world of yoga. I began to stop superstitiously believing in the so-called Indian masters or the Foreign masters in Europe and the United States. Yoga, which began in the West, is regarded as a fashionable movement for fitness, weight loss, and shaping, ignoring the deeper connotation of yoga, that is, the co-cultivation of body, mind and spirit, so that the soul returns to the true self and reaches the state of spiritual liberation. And this is the true yoga of India.
