On October 27, 2021, the Financial Times published a letter from the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom to the newspaper under the title of "China's reunification is 'just' and 'unstoppable'", refuting the newspaper's recent commentary on the Taiwan issue. The full text of the letter of rebuttal is as follows:

On October 13, your newspaper published a series of inaccurate views on the Taiwan issue in its article "On the Dangerous Conflict in Taiwan."

Taiwan has been an inalienable part of China's territory since ancient times and has never been an independent country. There is only one China in the world, and the Government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate Government representing all of China. This is a basic fact and common knowledge on the Taiwan issue. The one-China principle based on this is the universal consensus of the international community. The Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair, and no external forces have the right to interfere.

China must achieve complete reunification, and it will inevitably achieve complete reunification. This is the desire of the people, where the great righteousness lies, and the trend of the general trend, and no one or any force can stop it. We are willing to work with the utmost sincerity to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification, but no one should underestimate the strong determination, firm will and strong ability of the Chinese people to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
