"Colorful Years - Bianjiang Retirement Literature" is about to be published. As the title suggests, the works included in this book are some of the things I have written in the five years since I retired.

Mr. Liu Chengzhang is a famous writer I greatly respect, he is now 85 years old, still insists on writing. He said that human life is limited. In the case of not being able to prolong physical life, we can only expand the breadth of life and continue the social length of life through our own hard work and our own works. He has said to me more than once, "I want to live as if I were two people." "Although I can't do as well as Mr. Liu, I want to learn from Mr. Liu's fighting spirit, which is certain."

After I retired in March 2016, I undertook the task of compiling the history of the branch according to the arrangement of the Shaanxi Branch of xinhua news agency, where I worked. Comrade Li Yong, the bureau chief, said: "From the time of your retirement, is one year enough? I said, "That should be enough." "Therefore, a one-year period was set at the branch meeting. In March 2017, "From the Xi'an Branch of the Red Central News Agency to the Shaanxi Branch of Xinhua News Agency" (edited by Li Yong and Bian Jiang, the first volume of "A Brief History of the Branch", the second volume of "Collection of Works") was published by Xinhua Publishing House, and the two volumes of the book were printed, just at the end of March 2017.

Shaanxi, especially Yan'an in northern Shaanxi, has a particularly deep relationship with Xinhua News Agency. After the Red Army's Long March arrived in northern Shaanxi in October 1935, the Red Central News Agency soon resumed text broadcasting and published the "Red China" newspaper in Wayao Fort (present-day Zichang County) in northern Shaanxi; in January 1937, the Red Central News Agency was renamed Xinhua News Agency in Yan'an. The predecessor of the Shaanxi Branch of Xinhua News Agency can be traced back to the Xi'an Branch of the Red Central Agency, the first branch in the history of Xinhua News Agency, which Zhou Enlai decided to establish in the process of resolving the Xi'an Incident after the "Xi'an Incident" in December 1936. At the beginning of 1947, the Northwest Branch and the Frontline Branch of xinhua News Agency, which were established in the smoke of war, were the founders, leaders and predecessors of the Shaanxi Branch. Therefore, this brief history of the Shaanxi Branch spans more than 80 years, which briefly reviews the 13 years that Xinhua News Agency followed the Party Central Committee in northern Shaanxi, introduces the historical background and work of the Xi'an Branch of the Red China News Agency (later renamed the Xi'an Branch of the Xinhua News Agency), records the combat achievements of the Northwest Branch of the Xinhua News Agency and its frontline branch, and summarizes the development process of the Shaanxi Branch from its establishment in June 1950 to the end of 2016. "A Brief History of the Branch" has a total of more than 300,000 words and more than 140 photos; "Collection of Works" has more than 200 text manuscripts, 20 photos, and the total scale of the upper and lower volumes exceeds one million words, which has important historical materials, references and collection value, and has been well received by all parties after publication. In 2018, the brief history of the branch added more than 50,000 words and dozens of photos, which were printed and reprinted after being reviewed by Xinhua Publishing House.

In 2019, at the request of Mr. Zhang Guang, an old predecessor of the Northwest Branch of Xinhua News Agency, I compiled more than 400,000 words of "Zhang Guang's Journalistic Career", and selected and compiled more than 400,000 words of "Zhang Guang's Collected Works", which was reviewed and signed by Mr. Zhang Guang on August 15 of that year and submitted to the Shaanxi People's Publishing House (the publishing house has printed a sample book, which is to be officially published after the report is finalized. Sadly and regrettably, Mr. Zhang Guang, who is 90 years old, passed away due to illness on September 15, 2019. Zhang Guang is the son-in-law of martyr Liu Zhidan. He joined the revolution at the age of 13, became a reporter for Xinhua News Agency in 1947, worked in Xinhua News Agency for 8 years, and then worked for Shaanxi Daily for a long time, serving as deputy editor-in-chief, editor-in-chief, chairman of the Provincial Journalist Association, etc., and was the honorary chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Journalist Association when he died.

In 2020, in accordance with the will of Mr. Zhang Guang (who was the first student of the journalism class of Yan'an University who entered at the end of 1946), I cooperated with Comrades Sun Jiang and Guo Xiaoliang to compile a book of more than 300,000 words entitled "Yan'an University Journalism Class - The First University Journalism Major Founded by the Communist Party of China", which was published by Xinhua Publishing House in September last year. Authoritative experts such as Li Jianxin, professor and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai University and vice president of the Research Committee of the History of Journalism and Communication Education of the China Journalism History Society, believe that this monograph is a representative work on journalism education in the Yan'an period of the Communist Party of China. His innovative and creative academic contributions have established the source of journalism education in the Chinese Communist Party University, and his works have certain authority, exclusivity, scholarship and theory. From the perspective of the research of the history of Chinese journalism education, this work undoubtedly has important guiding significance and reference value, and is also of immeasurable practical significance in how to inherit the excellent tradition of journalism education in the Yan'an period and promote journalism and communication education in the new era. This book was selected as the 60th place in the 2020 100 Original Good Books Annual List (Social Science Category).

This "Colorful Years- Bianjiang Retirement Literature" is an anthology of the manuscripts I wrote after retirement in addition to the above books. The whole book is 400,000 words, with more than 200 photos, and is divided into nine chapters: the first chapter, famous Chinese journalists, which contains three groups of manuscripts I wrote for the "China Famous Journalists" series of books arranged by the Xinhua News Agency, as well as the newsletters of Mu Qing, Feng Senling, Zhang Guang, Guo Chaoren and several other famous Chinese journalists; the second chapter, the style of the New Chinese people, wrote the stories of more than ten New Chinese people, including the manuscripts I wrote for the Xinhua News Agency's "News Business" magazine; the third chapter, the study of news history, It includes several papers that I have exchanged at the annual meeting of the Chinese Journalism History Society and published in some journals; chapter 4, Talk on News Business, is a few speeches I have written; chapter 5, Outstanding Devotees, describing the deeds of several well-known professors, famous writers, combat heroes, and celebrities in my hometown; Chapter 6, Decision-making Consultation, which is a few consulting suggestions written in the name of the Provincial Decision-making Advisory Committee; Chapter Seven, Foreword and Afterword, is a preface, afterword, and book review written for several books; Chapter 8, Selected Vernacular Poems. It is some of the poems published in recent years; the ninth chapter, the exhibition of calligraphy works. In addition to the photos taken by the author of this book, some of them are provided by the interviewee himself or his relatives and friends, and some are information pictures, and I would like to express my gratitude to the original author.

In the process of publishing this book, it received strong support from the leaders of the Shaanxi Branch of xinhua news agencies and many comrades from many quarters. Mr. He Dongjun, former vice president of Xinhua News Agency, wrote the title and inscription for the book: "Looking back on the years of struggle, cherish the colorful years." Mr. Liu Chengzhang, former vice chairman of the Shaanxi Writers Association and a national first-class writer, wrote the preface to this book. Mr. Dong Chaohe, the leader and responsible editor of Xinhua Publishing House, Ma Peihong, Ma Hanyu and other masters of Xi'an Xinhua Printing Co., Ltd., photographer Fan Yong and his wife, and my family, have all paid hard work. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of them.

The author's level is limited, and the errors in the book are inevitable, and I hope that experts and readers will not hesitate to teach.
