At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Lingnan painting world was the first to open up the atmosphere and lead the new era, and the Lingnan School of painting represented by Gao Jianfu, Chen Shuren, Gao Qifeng and other painters was born.
Earlier, Zhang Jingxiu, a famous scholar in Dongguan, invited Juchao and Julian, the originators of the Lingnan School, to Dongguan Keyuan and taught painting in Keyuan for ten years, influencing the development of flower and bird painting in Guangdong in the past hundred years.
Dongguan has always been immersed in a rich cultural atmosphere. Based on this, Dongguan art workers have always had a fine tradition of sorting out and summarizing the creative achievements of their predecessors, which is the best way to inherit the Cultural Context of Dongguan, carry forward the achievements of predecessors, and inspire latecomers.
On the morning of September 26th, the exchange meeting of "Polishing the Red Dongguan in Fine Art Works" and "Painting the True Colors of the Times - Exhibition of Works on the Theme of Revolution and Construction of Dongguan Artists" was successfully held in the conference room of Lingnan Art Museum.
It is reported that the exchange meeting is based on the "Painting the True Colors of the Times - Dongguan Artists Revolution and Construction Theme Works Exhibition" being exhibited at the Lingnan Art Museum. I think that the prospects for the future sustainable development of Lingnan Art Museum are very broad, not only based on Dongguan local, but also important to focus on the vision of Greater Lingnan, from the breadth and latitude to structure the depth of the future development of the art museum.

This source is actually the crystallization of the fusion of traditional culture, local farming culture, military culture and commercial culture. At that time, these young people in Dongguan who were engaged in the cause of fine arts, they instinctively felt that the twentieth century was an earth-shaking century, they wanted to go out, not to Nanyang, not to go to Western countries to work and make a living, on the contrary, they wanted to participate in the big era, with their paintbrushes, showing the recognition of the country, because of this, I saw Zhang Songhe's large relief on the spot, very moved.

This exhibition originated from the fact that around June, our research office and the "Southern Daily Cultural Weekend" curated a special newspaper on the centenary of the founding of the Party, one of which is a red classic in the history of art, introducing some works on the historical theme of the Communist Party of China created by Dongguan artists over the past century. Later, the Lingnan Art Museum felt that the creativity was very good, and after a period of preparation, it changed from a newspaper to an exhibition.
Through this exhibition, we would like to highlight that the Greater Bay Area is the same cultural context. Although most of the older generation of artists in Dongguan have not stayed in their homeland, their feelings for their hometown are very strong, and the patriotic feelings of these predecessors can be seen from the art works on display. All the painters on display are walking with the times and creating works with the characteristics of the times.

If Dongguan has a history of art, I think that these on display are the main line, there are traditional aspects, there are red genes, and there are also creations in the new period. Some time ago. My father Wan Zhaoquan was a sculptor of the Xiguan style of Guangfu Province, he studied under Pan He and also made many modern sculptures. It is a great pleasure to see today's exhibition, the works of these older generations have been presented in our textbooks. But when I communicate with my young colleagues, I find that they don't know much about these cultures, and I feel that Dongguan's history is so rich, how to interpret the rich content to young people? The way of presentation should not be too benchmarking, nor too vulgar, and should be used to interact with young people in a down-to-earth way.
