At that time, many female medical workers rushed to the front line, braving the gunfire in the sky and more mines than people, delivering medicine, treating diseases, carrying stretchers, and composing a song of praise for the children of heroes.

From mid-May 1984 to October 1989, the Chinese border troops organized a defensive position in the Lao Shan area, smashing seven divisional and regimental counterattacks and more than 1,700 raids of the Vietnamese Army. This phase is also known as the "Battle of cat ears".
The cat ear hole is said to be an invention of the Sanye warriors on the front line during the Liberation War, mainly to cope with the enemy's shelling of the position. Su Yu found that this kind of anti-artillery hole was better than the trench, and he popularized it in the army.
Cat ear hole is actually a most common kind of battlefield fortification, like the trench is dug with a shovel, the interior is supported by wooden beams, generally built on both sides of the trench or traffic trench, arched semi-circular door, about one meter high, tens of centimeters wide, depth and length.
Such a cannon hole can accommodate three or five people, and the small can accommodate one person, and it is also used to store food and ammunition, which is a place for soldiers to take root in the position.
But the living conditions of this kind of battlefield are very bad. After the General Political Affairs Cultural and Labor Troupe went to the Laoshan Front to perform, the leaders of the leading team could not help but sigh that staying in such a cave for a year, even if there is no war, should also remember merit, should be credited with first-class merit.
In the words of the warriors who personally stationed the cat ear hole: "The cat ear hole lived in the cat ear hole for a year, and ate all the suffering that could be eaten in a lifetime." ”
Cat ear hole as the name suggests is very small, the soldiers on the position eat and drink Lasa sleep in the hole, inside the smell of sweat, feces and urine, gunpowder, rat smell mixed together, cooking there is a hint of rice aroma, mixed in, the effect of smelling can be imagined, just into the first four or five days can not eat anything, just want to vomit.
The warriors' diet consisted mainly of compressed biscuits and canned food, noodles and rice to be eaten sparingly, and occasionally some porridge or paste noodles to beat the tooth sacrifice.
The bedding has been in the damp hole for a long time and smelly and hard, and people often prefer not to cover the heat preservation effect of the cat ear hole, but the female mouse often sits in the bed for confinement.
The most feared is heavy rain, cat ear holes can not have both drainage function, once it rains, the low ground of the hole water can not reach the neck, the high ground also has to not reach the neck of the foot.
The water usually does not retreat for several hours, but even then, the soldiers must be in the hole, carrying guns, holding up the radio, the difficulty is unimaginable to ordinary people.
There is a lot of rain on the border between China and Vietnam, but the most scarce material for the cat ear holes that are often soaked in water is still water. The local rainwater can not be drunk even after precipitation, a layer of yellow mud, swallowing can choke people's tears.
When the water supply is at its best, one person has two or three pounds of water a day, which is basically enough to cook, and the compressed biscuits are generally boiled into a paste. When the water supply was not good, one person only had half a tea tank of water a day, so he had to drink it tightly with the wounded and sick.
At that time, our soldiers did not stick to such conditions for one day or two days, and the period of one garrison was as short as three months and as long as half a year. Laoshan has a tropical rainforest climate, with humidity and rain, hot and cold.
The Mongol Empire, which swept across Eurasia at that time, hit Vienna to the west, but failed to penetrate deep into the Indochina Peninsula to the south, which was caused by the incompatibility of water and soil.
Due to the lack of water, the soldiers who caused the cat ear piercing did not have the conditions to wash their hands, eating, holding guns, and itching all used a pair of unwashed hands, and everyone's things were shared, and the disease was so contagious.
Among the soldiers stationed in the cat ear hole, the most common epidemic is severe dermatitis and eczema. Especially in the parts of the body that are not ventilated and do not see the light, it is particularly serious, so it was commonly known as "rotten crotch" at that time.
This disease is serious and itchy, from the beginning of sitting restlessly, to standing when you have to split your legs like a compass, with unwashed hands to grasp, the more serious the grasp, the epidermis began to fester, a take off the head of the pants, the rotten skin also tore down, oozing out of the yellow water with blood.
Even so, the warriors still had to stick to the cat ear hole. Many times they simply go naked and shyly tie their clothes around their waists as a skirt to cover their shame. Among the supplies distributed was a simple bath bag, which contained wet wipes and powder puffs soaked in medicine, but the effect was also a cup of water.

In China, women are not absent from war. After learning about the extent of the danger of the rotten crotch disease on the front line of Laoshan Mountain, Wang Xiaohua, a military doctor at the field medical center, felt that he must immediately go to the position to solve this problem.
There were only a bunch of big guys on the old mountain position every day, and sometimes a soldier received a letter from his lover, and when he wrote back, he was brainstorming in the trenches, one person and one sentence.
When the doctors of the field hospital called to inquire about the situation, the soldiers heard that it was a female voice, and they coaxed her to sing, and said that the front line was fine, and the cat ear hole was very comfortable.
But when Wang Xiaohua's military doctor really said that he was going to see them, the cat ear piercing warriors would not let them live or die.
Not only did the soldiers not allow it, but the leaders of the field medical center did not agree to Wang Xiaohua going to the front. During the Battle of Lao Shan, the Vietnamese army buried mines like crazy, and many Vietnamese sappers would even be killed by the mines they had previously buried.
But Wang Xiaohua said: "As a military doctor, I am also a soldier, how can I be afraid of danger and not rescue the soldiers?" There may be fighting on the front line at any time, and the soldiers are not very sick and cannot easily come down, and we can only cure one of them. For a long time, the soldiers were sick and held their positions, and their hearts were uneasy! If we go to the battlefield, we can cure many soldiers' illnesses at once and let them concentrate on fighting. ”
The hospital leaders agreed to Wang Xiaohua's request after deliberation, but asked her to pay attention to safety and must come back alive!
Wang Xiaohua and his assistants took medicines and crossed the minefield of doom and gloom and came to the front line of Laoshan Mountain, but they did not expect that the soldiers were unwilling to cooperate with the treatment.
Although the soldiers in the cat ear hole were tortured by the serious rotten crotch, but after all, the sick position was more embarrassing, many soldiers did not want the female doctor to see the dirty and smelly rotten crotch, Wang Xiaohua asked about the condition, they only said that they wanted a little ointment to apply themselves, not to let her see a doctor.
Wang Xiaohua said, "I am your eldest sister, what am I afraid of?" Don't look at how to cure the disease? Wang Xiaohua, who had already become a mother, said this, and the soldiers were deeply moved, and it was not difficult to be embarrassed.
Wang Xiaohua took another female doctor and spent two days risking his life to go to many cat ear holes close to the enemy's position, and sent the medicine for the treatment and the elder sister's concern for her brother to the front line.
The warriors also competed to open the good cans they were reluctant to eat for them to eat, and several "old mountain poets" gave them couplets.

At the Laoshan Field Medical Center where Wang Xiaohua was located alone, there was Yu Feng, the youngest deputy company nurse in the whole army at that time, and the "Ten Sisters Ambulance Team" where everyone in the whole team made meritorious contributions.
Before April 1984, Yu Feng was only a medical student at the Jinan Army School. After the reconquest of Laoshan, the Jinan Military Academy received an order from its superiors, and all the cadets stopped being assigned and selected a group of outstanding cadets to go to the laoshan front for probation and participation in the war.
Upon receiving the order, the whole school boiled over. Everyone knows that as a military cadet, it is your duty to go to the battlefield. But when the matter came to an end, the military cadets who had never really experienced the test of life and death could not help but beat drums in their hearts, and there were very few applicants for a time.
At this moment, Yu Feng took the initiative to ask for help and asked to go to the front line of Laoshan to participate in the battle. Her medical and nursing profession was originally not in the scope of registration, but the head of the military region decided to approve Yu Feng's request and invited Yu Feng to make a report on "not forgetting the mission, practicing the duties of a soldier, and bravely going to Laoshan to kill the enemy" for the trainees facing the choice.
Yu Feng's report was full of military pride. Her bravery infected many students and set off a wave of registration.
In August 1984, Yu Feng was assigned to Wenshan 67 Hospital on the Laoshan Front, and in recognition of her exemplary role, the leaders of the army were promoted in advance, and Yu Feng became the youngest deputy company nurse in the whole army at that time.
On the first day of registration, Yu Feng threw herself into the tense rescue task. The hospital she was in was still a certain distance from the front line of the battle, but witnessing the wounded coming down from the front line, from their severed arms and limbs and state, Yu Feng felt the fierceness of the battlefield.
Yu Feng recalled:
"During the rounds, I couldn't hold back tears a few times, and I saw a soldier who had just finished amputation and was lying on the bed singing 'one leg to protect the frontier, one eye to aim'. We are all of average age, I am also a soldier, what have I done for my country? I often think about the soldiers who are still fighting on the front line, they take the most meager allowance in the world, but they are fighting against unimaginable hardships and hardships of ordinary people, and they are tested by fire and bullets. Or did our warriors say it well: 'It doesn't matter if you suffer losses, as long as the doctrine is true, and I am a loser, happy for a billion people'. ”
Later, in order to better treat the wounded and sick on the front line, the unit decided to set up a field medical center, and Yu Feng signed up for the first time and became a backbone of the patrol of the Laoshan position.
Yu Feng was only 19 years old when he came to the old mountain full of cat ear holes, but he also had to face the rotten crotches of the cat ear hole soldiers like Wang Xiaohua. But she overcame her shyness, inquired about her illness like a sibling, and took care of the wounded and sick warriors, which touched many soldiers.
In laoshan's medical force, there is also a "star team" that has been reported by major newspapers in turn - the ten sisters medical rescue team, and the ten team members are all meritorious.
The youngest in the team, Pu Xiujuan, nicknamed "Snow White", had never done a dirty job before she joined the army at the age of 19.
Hearing that Xiaopu was going to the front line of Laoshan Mountain, her mother was very worried, worried that she had three long and two short.
Pu Xiujuan herself was also afraid, it was okay to be killed directly, in case she was crippled, how would she live the rest of her life? What if you are captured by the enemy? I heard that the Vietnamese army did everything in its power to treat prisoners.
At the recruit mobilization meeting, the company commander of the recruits said to them: "Lao Shan is holding its position, and your field hospital is not on the front line, it's all right!" ”
The biggest army commander Pu Xiujuan had ever seen at that time was this new company commander, and hearing the company commander say so affirmatively, Xiaopu also let go of his worries.
Out of the recruit company, Pu Xiujuan was assigned to the front-line operating room as a hygienist. The first surgery was the amputation of a seriously injured person whose leg had been blown off.
Pu Xiujuan, who was still a little girl, thought she would be afraid, but unexpectedly, she quickly entered the state, calmly carried out the instructions of the military doctor, and cut off the rotten flesh of the wound one by one.
Pu Xiujuan learned well, and the clean operation reduced the pain of the injured and made the operation very smooth.
During the war, Pu Xiujuan participated in more than 60 field surgeries without any accidents, and was the best among female soldiers.
The tempering of the battlefield made Pu Xiujuan, who was originally the pearl in the palm of her parents, show a strong nature, and in a mission to transport the wounded, Pu Xiujuan, who carried a stretcher, repeatedly knelt on the knees on the mountain road covered with sand and gravel dead branches in order to keep the wounded on the hillside path.
When the wounded were sent to the hospital, Pu Xiujuan's knees were already covered in blood, but Xiaopu, who successfully completed the task, smiled brightly.
In ancient China, there were female generals and female warriors such as women and Mulan. But they are only short-lived, and more often women can only passively accept the results in war.
