William-Adolphe Bouguereau, born in La Rochelle, France, was the most important figure in the French academic school of the 19th century. He trained at the Ingres Studio, the atelier of François Eduard Picott, and then at the École Nationale Supérieure in Paris, and in Rome.
In 1875 he taught at the Beaux-Arts Julien in Paris, and in 1888 he became a professor at the École Nationale égique école des Beaux-Arts in Paris. The painting style is aesthetic, and he is good at creating a beautiful and idealized realm. The subject matter is mostly mythology, angels and fables.
