Song Dynasty official kiln through the ear bottle

Guanyao is one of the five famous kilns of the Song Dynasty. The origin of the official kilns, one is the Northern Song Dynasty's Fenjing Guan kiln, and the other is the new Xiuneisi guan kiln built in Hangzhou (Lin'an) after the Song Dynasty moved south.

The porcelain glaze of the Song Dynasty official kiln is dignified and simple, the glaze is thick, and at the same time, it absorbs the thin tire thick glaze of the southern Yue kiln, Longquan kiln and other famous kilns, the glaze is brewed, and the essence of exquisite shape. The combination of northern art and southern technology has created the peak in the history of celadon in China.

Through meticulous and skillful craftsmanship, guan kiln porcelain harmoniously unifies the smooth and concise shape and the glaze color contained in the essence, representing the highest level of Chinese porcelain production 800 years ago, and is also a true portrayal of the developed scientific and technological culture during the Song Dynasty. Due to its limited production, it has been passed down to few generations, thus becoming a treasure in ancient Chinese porcelain and becoming famous all over the world.

Song Dynasty official kiln porcelain has many grained pieces, there are large and small open pieces, also known as Wenwu pieces. There are thin and dense, deep and shallow, mainly ice cracks and other large striated layers, the so-called "ice cracks", like ice sugar, mica, layer by layer, polygonal opening, white lines.

The grain plate that appeared on the glaze was originally a defect, but our ancestors skillfully used this defect beauty as a special means of decorative porcelain glaze, so that this glaze grain through the adjustment of the process, control the size and density of the crack, forming a fragment of the grain, crisscrossing, so as to achieve the so-called "golden wire" artistic effect. Instead, it becomes a special kind of beauty.

The shape of the Song Dynasty official kiln porcelain is mostly imitated from the Ancient Zhou and Han Dynasties. The shape is rigorous and solemn, and the foot "looks more chic and antique." Official kiln porcelain is mostly small utensils, which are not large in size. However, the arrogance expressed can still not be ignored. And it is like a jade spring, solemn, elegant, mysterious natural beauty. In terms of artistic style, it wins with glaze color, is known for its shape, and is known for its grain pieces, which reflect the unique artistic style of the oriental people who are thick and simple, sublime and elegant.

As a royal vessel of the Song Dynasty, the official kiln of the Song Dynasty required that the production be as perfect as possible, and the early works were all glazed, and the late "purple iron foot" became its characteristic.

Song Dynasty official kiln belongs to the celadon series, glaze color is blue glaze, different shades, there are pink blue, moon white, putty, green yellow, beige and other colors, due to the role of the kiln, glaze color shows two or more colors, glaze is not smooth, but there is a layer such as ghee light, the enamel is deep and turbid, the glaze layer is uneven,

There are many kinds of grain pieces (open pieces) of the official kiln, which are called eel patterns, black and blue stripes, light yellow stripes, and caviar stripes by stripes; they are called gang-shaped stripes, plum blossom stripes, fine stripes, large and small checks, ice cracks, etc. by stripes, and are collectively called baiji fragments.

There are less than 100 treasures handed down from the official kilns of the Song Dynasty, and most of them are scattered all over the world. Therefore, its collection value is extremely high, and at sotheby's Hong Kong Autumn Auction in 1989, a 11-centimeter-diameter Southern Song Dynasty official kiln sunflower petal wash was sold for 25 million Hong Kong dollars, the highest number of Chinese porcelain auctions at that time.

This beige glazed ear bottle is fired in imitation of a bronze vessel, its abdomen is thick and round like an apple, and the neck has symmetrical tubular ears. The ear-piercing bottle is one of the styles of porcelain bottle ears, the body is in the shape of a through-line tube, vertically attached to the straight neck sides of the bottle, this shape is mostly seen in the Song Dynasty official kiln, Longquan kiln and Ge kiln products. The whole body is applied with beige glaze, the tire is thin and thick, although the glaze is not smooth, but there is a layer of ghee light attached to it, and the "golden wire" grain pieces vary in size and are naturally distributed on the bottle. The smaller shape (diameter 8 cm, height 13.5 cm) can be played in the hand. Well-preserved, it is not common in the same class, and has high collection value and research value. A piece of the same style exists in the Palace Museum in Beijing.
