On October 27, the "2021 China Agricultural Robot Competition" sponsored by China Agricultural Machinery Circulation Association, China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association and China Agricultural Mechanization Association, co-organized by China Agricultural Machinery Society and China Agricultural Engineering Society, and undertaken by China Agricultural University was held in Qingdao.

Based on the urgent need for intelligent agricultural machinery and equipment in the development of modern agriculture in China, as well as the key tasks of agricultural mechanization in the "14th Five-Year Plan", this competition provides a platform for cultivating innovative talents who know and love agriculture, encourages scientific researchers to innovate agricultural robot technology, develop mature commercial products, and serve rural revitalization.
The theme of the competition focuses on precision agriculture, using the plant protection method of target spraying to replace the traditional continuous coverage plant protection method to improve the utilization rate of pesticides. The participating teams need to develop an automatic target spraying robot, according to the simulation environment, independently plan the operation path, automatically identify the different location markings on the simulated plant, and spray accurately according to the requirements. This competition is the first time since the establishment of the competition in 2017 that it has been held outdoors, and the venue area has expanded by dozens of times compared with previous editions, which is closer to the real scene and brings a lot of challenges to the students who have not yet graduated.
Lin Yiyuan, Jin Daoyuan, a junior majoring in agricultural engineering from the College of Biosystems Engineering and Food Science of Zhejiang University, and their teammates reached the final with their participating robot "Shannan Liangluo". "Our robot uses the extended version of the Jifei R150 and innovatively uses a 'suspension bridge' design and an end-actuator to build, the robot can walk autonomously along the trace line during operation, and when it recognizes the wooden stake to be sprayed, it will open the ring to meet and spray." Lin Yiyuan introduced.
Seeing that there were teams from Many universities such as China Agricultural University, Northwest Forestry University, Shandong University of Technology and so on, Jin Daoyuan could not help but be a little nervous. "Because this competition is much more difficult than in the past, this time is to simulate the reality of the outdoor large robot, the previous competition on the sand table demonstration of indoor small robots two months ago they teamed up to start preparing for the game, came to Qingdao for outdoor ground characteristics, air humidity, light and other different factors for emergency debugging, successfully completed the first round of competition."
It is reported that since its inception, the competition has received widespread attention from the academic and research circles, attracting many domestic universities and scientific research institutions to register for the competition, and through layers of competition, more than 20 teams have finally entered the finals. Guangzhou Jifei Technology, as the supporting unit of this competition, provided 8 of the teams with the Extended Edition of jifei R150 agricultural unmanned vehicle as a robot walking platform.
"We are proud to work with industry associations, research institutes and many universities and colleges to explore the future development trend of agriculture in China. In the future, the demand for interdisciplinary composite talents in China's agriculture will further increase, and we will also promote more young talents to join the agricultural industry through such competitions to exert their strengths and innovation. Liu Qiao, head of the Public Pole Flying Academy of Guangzhou Jifei Technology Co., Ltd., told reporters that for many years, Jifei has been committed to the cultivation of agricultural innovation talents, and has successively carried out school-enterprise cooperation with colleges and universities across the country to assist in the construction of intelligent robot colleges, open unmanned agriculture-related majors and courses, and further promote the development of the combination of production, education and research. In the future, Jifei will, as always, cooperate with industry associations, scientific research institutions, and colleges and universities to jointly improve the level of agricultural modernization and development and help rural revitalization.
In the view of Wang Tianchen, vice president and secretary general of the China Agricultural Mechanization Association, the China Agricultural Robot Competition has an important driving role in promoting the spirit of science, enhancing the awareness of innovation, strengthening skill training, and improving the comprehensive quality of students, and also provides new opportunities for better talent training and scientific and technological support.
"At present, we are accelerating into the era of intelligence, artificial intelligence, robots, unmanned driving and other technologies have profoundly changed human production and lifestyle, and have become more and more a significant symbol of scientific and technological innovation of the times, and the agricultural science and technology industry with high and new technology as the driving force is injecting new momentum and stimulating new vitality into the high-quality development of the economy." Wang Tianchen said that in the future, the China Agricultural Robot Competition will always aim at the important demand areas of agricultural modernization, and on the basis of strengthening basic research and technical research, continuously improve the original innovation ability, and expand the breadth, depth and precision of the final application of agricultural robots.
