Farming is my dream, and I am proud and happy because of farming.
Hello everyone, I am a veterinarian less than, I am a cattle and sheep veterinarian, there are friends who like breeding can click down to pay attention, every day will share with you the relevant knowledge of veterinary breeding, I hope it will be helpful to you.
Meat pigeon breeding has been developed in China for many years, but why has not been too good to start, like chickens, ducks and geese through the development of these years has formed an intensive, large-scale, has become the main food of consumption. Known as "one pigeon wins nine chickens" known as the pigeon has been developing in the sluggish, in fact, the meat pigeon market is still relatively large, the market demand is still very strong, what is the reason for the meat pigeon today? Why aren't broilers growing as fast? As a meat pigeon industry people may be complaining about this, but the current situation and research level of domestic meat pigeon breeding are still stuck at the level of 10 years ago or even 20 years ago, it can be said that the research status and production status of meat pigeons are still very lagging behind compared with chickens, ducks and geese ordinary poultry, which is specifically manifested in the following three aspects.
First, the introduction, selection and breeding of seeds are lagging behind
"Difficult to introduce seeds" is the biggest bottleneck hindering the development of China's meat pigeon industry. As we all know, to do a good job in breeding, the variety is the key. The survey shows that there are actually many breeds of meat pigeons in China, such as Liangtian pigeon, Foshan pigeon, Shiqi pigeon, deep king pigeon, Tianxiang No. 1, new white card, red carnu, white carnu, Qin shen pigeon, white king pigeon (United States, introduced in 1992), hybrid king pigeon, European meat pigeon (France, introduced in 2002) and so on. However, whether it is the introduction of breeds or breeding varieties, it is only a population expansion and simple hybridization, there is no real selection, breeding, there is no complete, standardized pedigree data and breeding standards, so there is no real sense of breeding pigeon breeding, resulting in many pigeon farmers even commercial generation of meat pigeons as breeding pigeons sold or retained, resulting in serious mixing of domestic meat pigeon breeds, inconsistent coat color; body size, weight become smaller, the weight of pigeons is between 450 and 700 grams, and the milk pigeons are between 400 and 600 grams. Breeding pigeon production, breeding performance declined, the annual output of pigeons 5 to 6 pairs of suckling pigeons, compared with the original breed standards, the gap is getting bigger and bigger, seriously affecting the economic benefits of the pigeon farm and the development of the meat pigeon industry.
Second, feed nutrition is unscientific and has no reference
Because pigeons like to eat the seeds of grain, the feed of meat pigeons has long been based on raw grains. That's why most pigeon farms are fed with raw grains. Feed formulas are mostly formulated by farm technicians or workers based on experience and expert recommendation data, resulting in long-term nutritional deficiencies in pigeons, resulting in low production performance, production potential is not fully utilized, and the production capacity of pigeons is limited.
