On September 11th, the third "CAFA Luxin National Children's Art Calligraphy Competition", jointly created by the Central Academy of Fine Arts and shandong Luxin Public Welfare Foundation, completed the final evaluation and evaluation work.
The propositions of this competition break through the limitations of the theme and unfold in the form of multi-theme self-selection, and the recommended themes are "Birthday", "Back to 2021" and "Unforgettable Things". The competition was officially solicited from the whole country on April 25, and as of August 2, more than 15,000 submissions had been received. 12 expert judges from various fields made a final evaluation of more than 540 preliminary finalists.
In order to protect the children's enthusiasm for creation, the organizing committee set up awards according to the characteristics of children's growth in different ages, with the intention of encouraging them to achieve little by little achievements in their growth. After repeated deliberation and voting by 12 experts and judges, a total of (12) children won 12 theme awards, (149) children won the nomination award, (419) children won the excellence award, and all the children participating in the competition will receive the potential award.
Children's worlds are a mysterious paradise, and painting can bring adults closer to their long-lost innocence. In the children's pen, what Tang people's fadu and Song people's interest are not as good as their natural blooms.
How many secrets are hidden in the little brains of the babies? What exactly are those passionate graffiti saying? In order to enter the world of babies and establish mutual respect from an early age, this competition specially introduced a "fairy tale" link. The children recorded their thoughts when they drew, and the organizing committee attached a search QR code to the back of their paintings, and the story behind a work was vividly presented in front of the eyes of adults.
Under the national policy of double reduction, art education is increasingly valued by parents, educators and the whole society. What kind of works are good children's paintings? Do children want to draw drawings? How should children's art education be carried out? And so on, a series of questions are before every educator. As the organizer of the competition and the planner of the competition, the School of Continuing Education of the Central Academy of Fine Arts has always been adhering to the purpose of "educating people through beauty, serving the society, and continuing to move forward". Through the statistics and analysis of big data, experts, scholars, institutional research, curriculum planning and design, teacher training, textbook publishing and other means, the college is methodically seeking solutions for parents.
The judging activity was presided over by Feng Haitao, dean of the School of Continuing Education of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Beijing Youth Weekly interviewed President Feng Haitao at the event site and chatted with him about the competition.
Q: Which entry impressed you this year?
A: Impressive too much, if the momentary memory at this moment, I think of a 4-7 year old group of children's painting, the theme is "birthday", in fact, he just drew a simple shape, birthday to eat longevity noodles, but he pays special attention to the texture, he really used the noodles to pinch a noodle, in a bowl circle, and then drew a person, mouth open, mouth holding a noodle, the vision was suddenly emphasized, and adults are not the same, this child is completely concerned about the longevity noodles of the "long" Feeling, this is one of my favorite works, I think it actually shows the part of our competition that is different from other children's art competitions, that is, we do not require children to show the so-called "skills" and "meaning", do not require the "integrity" of the work, we are more inclined to stimulate their grasp of visual instincts, release their originality, and express the most intuitive and impressive things in life with the means they can master. This is a point that the judges of our competition all agree with, and it is also a point that I think our competition is more interesting.
Q: Based on your own preferences, what kind of works do you think should be awarded and encouraged?
A: In fact, we have set up a lot of awards in the competition, that is, we hope that in every direction, we can combine the characteristics of children, choose a work as a signal we send to the society, and tell everyone that this is what we think is worth developing, which is why I think our competition is particularly good every year, that is, we can find new aesthetic methods and new creative methods in new works. This year, there was a work in the calligraphy group, and many of the calligraphy in the judges said that they could not write it (themselves), and we joked that it could be framed and put in the studio to learn. This child is actually not strictly trained, he is writing by nature, but this kind of thing is often the ultimate goal that the artist pursues, many parents are not sure of such works, think that this is blind writing, the Central Academy of Fine Arts is to affirm such works, because it can represent the child's instinctive grasp of space.
Q: At present, what is the level of home art education in our country?
A: In this regard, I think our country is still much worse, which is also the original intention of our competition, we found that many parents only regard art education as a "sub-subject", and do not think that it is an indispensable part of our temperament and physical and mental health growth, children's morality, intellectual, physical and aesthetic work should be comprehensive development, but now we have ranked it, and also put art in the lower and dispensable part. Before there was a child with a super love for machinery drew an airplane structure diagram, imagining that they would work in the future working environment are engine parts, painted very perfectly, I believe that this child must have a science and engineering thinking, it is possible that he will become an aircraft designer in the future, but when we go to the parents to tune this work to judge, parents have no idea where to throw the painting, in fact, through our competition, may parents will find its value, we publish these paintings, The purpose is to be able to reawaken the memory of a family after more than ten years, which is also a shaping of children's self-confidence and way of thinking, and the overall improvement of family aesthetic ability.
Q: The contest has been held for three years, what kind of expression do you think Chinese children are doing now?
A: The overall feeling is that Chinese children are more and more dare to speak, self-confidence is getting stronger and stronger, they began to explore the topic of "where do I come from", explore the topic of gender, last year, this year there are children to draw how they were born, because there is a two-child three-child policy, he will also think about where his younger brothers and sisters come from, painting one day the mother's belly is big, and then pull out a child, it is very interesting. Children pay attention to society, and think a lot, like this year's epidemic, there is a child with ink, painting the subway inside the people have a sense of distance from each other, I said this work we have to keep, this child is with his own eyes to see, and use a traditional Chinese language to show it.
Now children and when we were children learning to draw is too different, we were very limited materials at that time, the degree of expression is also limited, we can only use pencils, brushes, with the materials we can get, now children are markers, acrylic, oil paint, plastic materials, environmentally friendly materials, etc. will be used, I think this is this generation of children according to their lives, the era they are in formed by a kind of expression, so that they can not be affected by adults, can be unbound expression, And our children are no longer simple books to teach what to learn, many children's observation of animals and plants are like small biologists, using picture books to record, I really think that in the basic education stage, society is progressing, so I think art education also needs to be cooperated.
Q: There are many imaginative expressions of children, how do you think teachers should protect children's talents and guide children to be friends with art?
A: Parents do not educate children, because a generation has a generation of problems, we think that at this stage of the child, parents should not teach him to draw, but to protect his nature, let him grow into a sound person, guide the child to pay attention to life, provide him with some space to play, and then help the child complete the record and preservation, this is enough, we should never underestimate the perception of children, if a family can teach children to respect others, respect the grass and trees in the world, let the child see the world with empathy If one day, the child wants to express himself, he will certainly be able to complete a good, warm expression, able to grasp the details that others can't see.
