State Bauman Technical University is the highest institution of science and engineering in Russia, the oldest and most accomplished technical university in Russia, which has trained many outstanding scientific and technological talents for the former Soviet Union and Russia, and has a high reputation in Russia. Its status in Russia is similar to that of massachusetts institute of technology in the United States and Tsinghua University in China. It is also the chairmanship unit of the Sino-Russian Federation of Engineering Universities in Russia.
Moscow Bauman State Technical University originated in 1826 and was founded by Maria. Empress Fyodorovna signed an order to create a technical school. In July 1830, Emperor Nicholas I approved its status as a technical school, thus beginning the historical era of the present Bauman State Technical University in Moscow. At that time, it was called the Moscow Handicraft Institute, and by 1868 the "Handicraft Academy" became a specialized educational institution - the Royal Moscow Technical College. During the Soviet period, it was renamed the Moscow Higher Technical Institute to train mechanical engineers. In 1938, new departments were opened: tanks, artillery and ammunition. In 1948, the Department of Missile Technology was added. From July 1989, it was renamed Moscow Bauman State Technical University on the order of the Soviet Committee, and from January 1995 Moscow Bauman State Technical University belonged to the Russian Federation Cultural Heritage Fund.
In the 20th century, the founder of the missile industry, the founder of Russia's contemporary space industry, the commander-in-chief of manned spaceflight, and the famous Korolev also worked at the school. The teachers who have worked here include the famous chemist Professor Mendeleev, the "father of Russian aviation" Professor Zhukovsky, Lebedev, Lazarev, Vavilov, as well as the most accomplished aircraft designer of the Soviet Union, pavel Osipovich Sukhoi, the founder of the Sukhoi Design Bureau, Tupolev, the founder of the Tupolev Design Bureau, and other world-renowned scientists.
Since its establishment, the university has trained more than 160,000 engineers and technicians. Many of China's leaders and academicians of the two academies graduated from Bauman Technical University in Moscow, such as Zou Jiahua, Song Jian, Ni Weidou, Zhu Senyuan, Guan Qiao, Cen Kefa, Liang Jincai, and so on.

The curved part of Baumann's main teaching building was built in the 18th-19th centuries and became known as the "Sloboda Palace" and was rebuilt in 1826.
The middle and wings of the school building were built in 1949-1960.
The building mainly houses the Dean's Office of the College, the Admissions Committee, the University Administration, the Palace of Culture and the Museum.
Bauman's Educational Laboratory Building was built in 1972 and began to be operational in 2004. Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Vladimir Filipov, Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov and President of Moscow Polytechnic University Igor Fedorov participated in the ribbon-cutting event.
The total area of the education experimental building is more than 80,000 square meters. Designed for the simultaneous admission of over 5,000 students. It has 100 classrooms, 20 computer rooms, 19 elevators, a library with a collection of 800,000 books, a 680-seat reading room, a 1,170-seat concert hall, and a 126-seat conference hall. Because of its resemblance to a ship and its location on the riverbank, students generally called it a "cruiser" or "Titanic."
On the second floor of the main academic building, there is an alumni gallery. On the gallery wall you can find portraits of celebrities such as Korolev, Tupolev, Shukhov, Dorezar, Balming and others.
On the second floor of the teaching building there is a large physics laboratory, which has been in use since 2014, equipped with the latest technological equipment and meets all the requirements of ergonomics. The total area is more than 2000 square meters.
The Educational Experimental Building has a "Russian Composites Center", which was established in 2011. It is a leading scientific center in Russia for the development and production of composite materials and their products.
On the first floor of the teaching building there is a "REC Center for Photonics and Infrared Technology", which was put into use in 2012. The center's priority is to become a world-class school of science and engineering in the field of optics and photonics.
There is a science park on the third floor of the teaching building, which has been in use since 2011, and is a joint project of the Mail.ru Group and Bauman Technical University to cultivate IT talents.
