Putting on the red vest and pinning the loudspeaker, Hong Jie confirmed the final preparation process and walked into the empty lecture hall. This is Hong Jie's eighth visit to Jiading Anting this year, and she and 156 other teachers will bring a Red Cross first aid training course to Grade 5 students in 43 primary schools across the district this semester.
In September 2018, in order to disseminate the basic knowledge of the Red Cross Movement and popularize primary first aid knowledge and skills to primary and secondary school students, the District Red Cross Society cooperated with the District Education Bureau to incorporate the Red Cross First Aid Training into the Life Education Curriculum of the District Youth Education Activity Center for the first time, and plans to hold youth first aid knowledge popularization training at the Anting Base on a regular basis every year. Over the past four years, the District Red Cross has conducted training courses for more than 21,000 students in 70 primary and secondary schools, "We have clearly felt in the years of teaching that students are becoming more and more aware of emergencies, which makes us feel that everything we do is very meaningful." Hong Jie, the municipal Red Cross emergency care teacher and the head of the district Red Cross emergency care teaching and research team, said.
"What are you going to say after dialing 110 or 120?" "What should I do when I have a nosebleed?" "How to deal with the emergency after the burn?" In the classroom, Hong Jie guided the students to think about and distinguish the measures that should be taken in the event of different emergencies with a series of questions, and implanted the first aid common sense and skills such as the identification of the external defibrillator, the symptoms of airway obstruction, and the basic operation of trauma rescue into the students' hearts.
Hong Jie is asking questions to students
"For students of different ages, our teaching content will also be adjusted accordingly." Hong Jie compared the fifth, seventh and adult students, "The fifth grade children are younger than they are, so when we give them lessons, we will focus on how to let them learn to help and protect themselves." Instead of teaching them CPR or Heimlich first aid, tell them where to find an AED external defibrillator. ”
Although the first aid skills that students can actually operate are limited, Hong Jie believes that it is important for students of this age to be exposed to first aid knowledge and training. "On the one hand, this can improve their self-help awareness and lay the foundation for future learning." On the other hand, students have a strong ability to accept new knowledge, and sometimes through the output process from school to student and then to family, they can correct some wrong but long-standing first aid methods in life. ”
Hong Jie cited the treatment of nosebleeds as an example, "Many people until now think that they should look up and cover their noses with cotton, but in fact, this method is very dangerous. Cotton or other materials may damage the inner wall or slip deep into the nasal cavity during the insertion of cotton or other materials, and the movement of raising the head may cause blood to flow into the airways and esophagus. ”
Students try to bandage them with triangle scarves
"If you burn, rinse with running water, but not in ice water." "If you don't know what to say after calling the police uncle, don't hang up the phone and wait for him to ask you questions." "If someone is electrocuted, you can't touch her directly with your hand, but you have to use a wooden stick." Towards the end of the course, students were showing what they had just learned. "I've been looking forward to today's training sessions before I came here, and I've searched the Internet with my mom and dad for some knowledge about the Red Cross." Zhuo Xinyue, a third-grade fifth grader, pointed to the hand-bandaged triangle scarf on his knee, "I am glad to learn so many first-aid skills today, if I encounter someone who needs help in the future, I can help him." ”
It is reported that this semester's youth first aid knowledge popularization training will continue until mid-December, and 7308 students are expected to participate in it. After that, the District Red Cross Society will continue to strengthen cooperation with the District Education Bureau to integrate more first-aid knowledge into the learning and life of primary and secondary school students.
