Wenzhou News On October 21, the Wenzhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Management Center held a livestock and poultry genetic resources on-site assessment meeting in Pingyang, and the provincial and municipal assessment experts braved the rain to visit the breeding farm to understand the protection and development of livestock and poultry genetic resources on the ground, and to understand the development prospects of these livestock and poultry breeds listed in the protection of genetic resources through tasting products, and to better promote product development through "guarantee".

Wenzhou is one of the most abundant livestock and poultry genetic resources in our province. Since 2016, the city has fully absorbed the lessons of the successive extinction of outstanding local black pigs such as Hongqiao black pigs, Yayang pigs and Beigang pigs since the 1980s, strengthened the protection and development and utilization of local livestock and poultry genetic resources, and the municipal finance has arranged special funds of 1 million yuan per year for the rescue protection and development and utilization of genetic resources.

In Pingyang County Tingzhi Wenzhou Buffalo Dairy Co., Ltd., in the national "Wenzhou Buffalo" breeding farm, every buffalo wears a yellow ear tag number. Wenzhou buffalo are short and muscular, and can be used to plough fields or be bred as high-quality dairy cows. Due to agricultural mechanization and the full promotion of black and white flower cows, Wenzhou buffalo is now endangered. According to Li Tingzhi, the head of the company, through seed preservation, the breeding farm currently has 90 breeding cattle. While preserving seeds, the company has explored the development of raw milk, fresh milk, milk tofu and other products.

The assessment experts also visited the Pingyang partridge pigeon, the rock lime goose, the Lingkun chicken, the Yandang ma chicken and other breeding farms. After tasting products such as smoked goose, Lingkun chicken, buffalo milk, Geese hemp chicken, roasted suckling pigeon and so on, the experts praised it.

In recent years, through the selection, breeding, purification and rejuvenation and development and utilization of these local breeds, the core population has maintained a certain number, and the Lingkun chicken and Yandang ma chicken that have entered the "provincial guarantee" have occupied a certain share in the local market and some foreign markets, and the prospects are good, and Wenzhou's local breeds of livestock and poultry that were once difficult to see have also re-entered the people's vision and table.
