On December 17, Red Star News reporters saw in the Chengdu-Yibin Expressway that the entire line of the Chengyi Expressway has been completed. From the Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Expressway South Line, it takes about 90 minutes to drive to Yibin, and the line is expected to be officially opened to traffic by the end of the year.
Chengdu to Yibin used to take the shortest highway in the past, which took more than 3 hours, but since the opening of the Chengyi section of the Chengdu-Guizhou high-speed railway last year, the travel time between Chengdu and Yibin has been shortened to 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the high-speed rail has become the first choice between Chengdu and Yibin. However, due to the inconvenience factors such as the opening time of the high-speed rail and the early entry of the station, driving is still the first choice for many people.
"After the opening of this highway, from Chengdu Three Roundabouts to Yibin Ring Road, the whole line runs in 90 minutes." Yang Dawei, general manager of Sichuan Tietou Group Chengyi Company, introduced.
The total length of the Chengyi Expressway is about 157 kilometers, the line starts from the Chengdu Economic Zone Ring Expressway, docks with the south line of the Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Expressway, passes through Chengdu Eastern New District, Jianyang City, Meishan Renshou County, Neijiang City Weiyuan County, Zigong City Rong County, Yibin Xuzhou District, Cuiping District, and ends at the Leyi Expressway Zhongfeng Temple Hub, docking the western section of the Yibin City Transit Expressway.

Among them, Chengdu Jianyang section is 9 km, Meishan section is 56 km, Neijiang section is 2 km, Zigong section is 47 km, and Yibin section is 43 km. The whole line adopts two-way 6-lane construction, the design speed is 120 kilometers per hour, and a total of 157 bridges, 4 tunnels (Huayang Mountain Tunnel, Niufeng Mountain Tunnel, Tieshan Tunnel, Rongyin Mountain Tunnel) and 17 interchange interchanges are set up on the whole line, which is one of the highway projects with the highest design standards in the province.

In addition, the Chengyi Expressway has four service areas on the entire line, namely Xie'an Service Area, Wang Yang Service Area, Rongxian Service Area and Xuzhou Service Area, and the supporting facilities of the gas station in the service area are planned to be completed at the end of December, and the reserved charging pile location will be implemented soon.
As an important part of the layout of the southbound expressway in Sichuan Province, the Chengyi Expressway will become the most convenient connection channel between the Chengdu Plain Economic Zone and the South Sichuan Economic Zone after completion. At the same time, as a common section of the Sichuan-Yunnan Corridor and the Sichuan-Guizhou-Guangdong Corridor in the southward opening of Sichuan Province, the Chengyi Expressway will further enhance the capacity of the southbound open passage in Sichuan Province and provide a strong transportation guarantee for the in-depth implementation of the strategic deployment of four-way expansion and global opening-up.
