After nearly 20 years of struggle, the China Spallation Neutron Source (hereinafter referred to as CSNS) team built China's first spallation neutron source in 2018, filling the gap in the domestic pulse neutron source and application field, making China the fourth country in the world to have a pulsed spallation neutron source.

CSNS is a major scientific and technological infrastructure for the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" national economic and social development plan. CSNS has become one of the core large scientific devices supporting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Comprehensive National Science Center. Up to now, CSNS has more than 2,000 registered users, carried out major original innovation research in many fields, derived a number of public innovation platforms, and overcome a number of common key core technologies. At present, more than 500 user experimental projects have been completed, of which 12% come from high-tech enterprises including Huawei, Tsinghua Unigroup Tongchuang, Dongguang and other high-tech enterprises, focusing on the "four aspects", and have achieved a number of important achievements in the fields of new energy materials, Smartminton topology magnetism, spin Hall magnetic films, high-strength alloy nanophasics, aerospace materials, combustible ice, shale, catalysts and other fields; more than 600 scientific and technological papers have been produced, and more than 80 national invention patents have been obtained.

CSNS also actively promotes the transfer and transformation of key technological achievements, and successfully developed China's first accelerator boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) experimental device with independent intellectual property rights in August 2020, laying a technical foundation for the development of medical BNCT treatment devices in China.

Previously, the CSNS team won the "China Youth May Fourth Medal Collective", and its members won the honorary titles of "National May Day Pacesetter" and "National March 8th Red Flag Bearer" for many times.
