Mucheng, the ancient name of Nan'an Town (township), was named after Nan'an County, which was built here in the first year of Tang Wude (618). There are two theories about the origin of the name of Mucheng: one is that in 1646, the deputy general Zhou Dingchang of the Ming Dynasty once built a wooden city with this and defeated Zhang Xianzhong's rebel army, so it was renamed Mucheng; the other is that when an ancient merchant sold wood from the ancient river channel, he once lost his name to this three times shenmu (raft), which was originally "Mu Shen" and later renamed MuCheng.
As a bustling merchant wharf in ancient times, Mucheng is known as "Little Shanghai". To this day, many ancient buildings are still well preserved, such as the ancient ferry port, the former town government walking horse corner building, the embroidery building in the backyard of the Mucheng police station, the houses in the back street of Mucheng, the bluestone slab road and the rhubarb oak tree.

In ancient times, in the interior and the Yakang area of Sichuan West, there were post shops on the main water and land roads, which were the Jiayang Ancient Road that ran along the Tsing Yi River.

There is also Mucheng Queugou here, located in Daqi Mountain, which has a lot of alders, because it is located in a ravine, it has not been developed so far, and tens of thousands of tourists come every year, which is a new business card of Leshan Tourism.
